So the answer to my question would be 'no' then. Thank you.

I obviously have a different opinion to a number of posters on this thread which is fair enough. And whilst we may have a difference of opinion here I dont intend to carry it on to other threads and I think this will be the case with others also. Just different opinions ,nothing nasty, and soon forgotten about I`d imagine.

Of course I condemn any attack on anyone. Similarly I condemn biased reporting and the assumption that if someone has coloured skin then they are guilty.

But the crimes reported in the article were not committed in Vellinge, they were committed in Östersund. You are correct, Vellinge has only one policeman. It also has an asylum centre that has not even opened yet.

            As would I.
            Bear in mind im only talking about this article which has this quote in it;
" And they are backed by facts – police in Sweden this week warned women not to go out alone after a massive rise in sex attacks on women and children by men of a ‘foreign origin.’ "

Doesn't the article also state that the main female making claims is the daughter of a former Daily Mail journalist? She wouldn't be a stranger in how to use emotive language for media attention.
It isn't clear where these reported incidents are coming from. It doesn't clearly state they have been released by the Police; by the same token it doesn't clearly state Ms Russell is claiming them (although it does go on to state Ms Russell claims 5000 reports of crime in the past 3 months: how does she know this?)
One thing she does claim (which I do know happens) is where she states that men claim to fall under the age category of "children". So, her concern that men will be sharing a classroom with native children is grounded if their country isn't undertaking age-testing and taking migrants dates of birth at face value alone. The mistake is to assume that their reasons for claiming to be younger than they are is for predatory reasons.

Germany has had similar problems. In both cases, they have let huge numbers in. Inevitably, as in any group, there will be some bad people. This is why immigration should be more tightly controlled than has been the case. The eu has failed miserably and utterly to manage the crisis. Out of political correctness, they have initially allowed in anyone, including manythousands from safe countries, and are now going to the other extreme, doing deals with Turkey to attempt to prevent any movement, even to the extent of trapping those with a genuine reason to want out, in Syria, where they will no doubt be picked off by either IS, Russia, or as collateral damage by the US led coalition.

None of this means we should be propagating stereotype and prejudice though. If a police force says, factually, that there has been a rise in a particular type of crime by a particular demographic, we should of course take it on faith that they are telling the truth, but that doesn't mean that we should be suspicious of ALL in that demographic. There was a tragic story in the news recently about some chap in Manchester that allegedly murdered his own sister. Should we be suspicious of everyone from Manchester?

Interestingly, there is a place here in the UK where a large number of Syrian refugees have been housed. Not far from me, in Middlesbrough. I haven't heard any reports of any rise in crime there, other than a slight rise in petty vandalism and harassment, by locals victimising the refugees.

I agree with what your saying. No one should be stereotyped but at the same time crimes and wrong doings should not be brushed under the carpet because people are scared to say anything as they are afraid of being accused of being racist.

If your a criminal you should be brought to justice no matter your colour creed or religion. And anyone defending a paedophile because they are asylum seekers, economic migrants or indeed indiginous people should be ashamed of themselves.

I don't think anyone here is brushing anything under the carpet. It's just that colour, creed, religion, country of origin etc shouldn't come into it unless those factors are found to directly affect the likelihood of someone committing such offences.

Accusing people who apply reason instead of prejudice of supporting criminals is not a good way to win support for a particular way of thinking.

Now I think your getting just a bit paranoid. As you well know my comments above werent aimed at you or anyone else for that matter but just a generalisation.
If they had been aimed at you I would have named you directly and wouldnt hesitate to do so.
Your clearly spoiling for an argument here. Im up for it if you insist on it but am quite happy to move on , decisions yours @clueless1

@WeeTam , it was your quoting the Daily Express as a reference point that was funny . The content of any daily Express report is immaterial . If you believe them that is your choice.

Ok. So because I didn't willingly accept your point of view without question, that means I'm up for an argument ? Am I not allowed to have an opinion that differs from yours?

Perhaps you could re-read your own post that I replied to. Perhaps I misunderstood it but it seemed to read, as your latest one does, that anyone who disagrees with you is in some way dysfunctional. For the record I didn't take your earlier post to be a dig at me personally. It looked more like a dig at pretty much everyone. But again, perhaps I misunderstood. Either way, I really don't care enough to argue. You and I will agree on some things, and disagree on others. That's normal in my world.

I think you did misunderstand it and I wasnt having a dig at you there. No doubt we will continue to agree and disagree on things and thats normal and healthy. So lets leave it there and move on ........
