Poor old dc. Not only has he nearly split every alliance that Britain is in, but all while he has absolutely no faith in himself or his cabinet. If he did have faith in himself, he wouldn't be bricking it at the prospect of having to actually run the country himself, without simply kowtowing to Brussels.
I wonder if they have a plan if there is a vote to leave, by the sounds of things the country is going under if we leave
You missed out pestilence, or does that come under locusts? There should never have been any government interference , only facts should have been allowed, from both sides, from day one IMO. I still cant get over the fact he said we could leave without any problem about 6 months ago. The bloke needs to have that jammed down his throat along with saying he would do all he could to help Turkey join the EU, Now he's saying he would veto them joining, think he's lost the plot, his marbles, and should be replaced BEFORE the referendum.
It is a guess, of course, but my prediction is that the EU is going to hell in a handbasket in the next 5 to 10 years anyway. And when it all implodes, the fewer ties that we have with it at the time, the better. Not that we would escape unscathed of course, but every little helps.
Too close for my liking, Pete, and it just shows that the old far right fascist elements and beliefs are still bubbling away in that part of Europe........another sign of the things that are going wrong in the EU.
Yep, couple that with what is going on in the USA at the moment and I think maybe the PC brigade have to think again. Some people are just fed up with what is going on these days, so watch out, change you thinking or we are in for trouble.
No one has asked me what my take on this is. But as we're on the Internet, I'm going to give it anyway. This is really a power game at the right of British politics. Boris doesn't care about whether we are in or out, he wants to be the next PM. If anyone thinks Britain will somehow be more autonomous outside of the EU or will somehow get a better deal, they are deluded. What will happen is more deregulation and yet more bits of our infrastructure for sale. Our country will become even harder for people who aren't rich to get on in. And the right will still blame it on foreigners.
We've been in the eu for decades. That hasn't stopped anyone from selling our public assets to foreign private companies.
It is OTT political correctness that feeds the far right. Consider the 'migrant crisis'. The lefties say that all migrants are just poor refugees in a dire situation. Those with common sense acknowledge that the majority probably are, but a minority are at best taking advantage for financial gain, or at worst (as had been so tragically proven) wish us harm. If the powers told us, look, we're letting in desperate people escaping war and persecution, but we're vetting them, and sending any back that don't check out, or are not in danger, and those we do let in will be treat exactly the same as anyone else, then I reckon most people would be absolutely cool with it. There would still be a right wing faction, but it would be small and insignificant. But what is actually happening is people from places that are not at war are flooding into Europe. Fights are breaking out in refuge centres between Pakistani migrants and Afghan ones, or other groups against others. Terrorists have came in via the migrant routes, and then murdered people in France. In Germany, mass assaults against women happened, with the victims, all independent of each other, reporting gangs of north African/Arabic appearance. The coppers were accused of doing nothing. In the UK, the lefties, not the asylum seekers, complained about something as trivial as them all having the same colour front door in their free homes. All of this creates resentment. That resentment masks the fact that most are ok, and all the while, the right wing fascists seem to be giving a voice to those middle ground people's concerns while the left are not only ignoring them, but accusing them of being horrible racists just for opening their mouths. Hence good people start on the slippery road to the far right.
