Renting is dead money. Paying a mortgage has the same risks as paying the rent i.e: Don't pay the rent, you're out, if you don't pay your mortgage and you're out. I bought my House to make it my Home and, for me, renting makes it someone else's home and not mine. After you've paid of the mortgage, however long that takes, the House is yours and your family's. Some people don't ever get the chance of buying a House although they desperately want to, so with all due respect, clueless, count your blessings and count yourself fortunate that you actually have a mortgage:dunno::coffee::snorky:

Clueless - I am not suggesting that they will breed like rabbits for the benefits. However there certainly are cases of people on benefits with double digit number of children. I am simply pointing out that immigrants tend to have a higher birth rate than the rest of the UK population. The moslem religion does not allow birth control, and a number of Muslim leaders are actively trying to increase their birth rate. (eg Turkey above). Numbers are power.

Iran aims to ban vasectomies and cut access to contraceptives to boost births

The above headline comes from https://www.theguardian.com/world/2...n-contraceptive-access-block-boost-population

Unless you're mind fails before your body does. In which case all that tax and NI you paid over most of a lifetime suddenly counts for nothing, and your assets are snaffled to pay for an eastern European to patronise you for 15 minutes per day.

That is in Iran, PeterS, and this is not Iran.:dunno: I know many non immigrant families who have 5 or more children in their family. My Father-in-Law had 10 children, but then got a TV and never made the Football Team:doh::snorky: So, be honest, saying "that immigrant tend to have a higher birth rate that the rest of the UK is a generalisation to which, I think, there is no real evidence. It's only a generation past that it was quite common practice for UK families to have large families despite their economic situation.......it's amazing how quickly we can change our views!!:coffee:

With regards to Muslims opposing birth control, so do Christians. Of course there are orthodox Christians and whatever the opposite of orthodox is. Same with Muslims.

I'm not even sure it's a generation apart. I'm pretty sure I heard very recently that there was some debate in Ireland about the morality and legality of abortion.

What is a generational thing, I think, is which religion we blame for the world's problems. I'm not old, but I remember it being about catholics vs protestants. Or in Europe, names like ETA or basque separatists.

In India and surrounding areas there are the Hindu people. Their religion teaches peace and tolerance. It's in their religion that everyone and everything is divine and should be treated as such. Yet they have in their culture, even to this day, the caste system that says if you are born poor, you deserve to remain poor. Heading further east there is Buddhism. Buddhism is abundantly and unambiguously clear. It is absolutely never acceptable to harm another being. Even in self defense, it is wrong. Sometimes unavoidable but still wrong. Yet there are Buddhist soldiers in Burma, Sri Lanka, Cambodia that have done horrific things.

We can not pass judgement on the Muslims just for their faith alone. The problems we face are nothing to do with any faith. They are about political correctness. If someone wants to breed for benefits, we should draw the line, regardless of faith or lack of. If someone wants to treat women with contempt, we should say no, regardless of what fairy they support. If someone wants to harm in the name of their fairy, they should be tried in court. If it is found they genuinely believe a sky fairy told them to harm people, they should go to a secure mental ward. If they are found to be lying, jail will do. All regardless of faith or lack of. But it won't happen. Because political correctness says we have to respect people's beliefs in 2000 year old phantoms, and the media insist on picking out the latest label to show the very worst of, while ignoring the best of and even the normal.

Anyway. I digress. We were on about breeding habits of Muslims in think, seeing as they're the current focus. All within the bigger picture of Britain's relationship with Europe.

Clueless, all religions preach peace and tolerance but it seems all religions also fuel hatred and war.

I live in the United Kingdom, I an English and I am British.

I have not been converted to French/German/Italian or owt else, so who exactly am I claiming my country or myself from. And, my way of life is what I make of it, I am in control of my own future.

Democracy will always be the same we will always be told what to do by politicians, wherever they reside.
