Quite. I really cannot comprehend why this powermongering continues in the 21st century. Most people just want to rub along, do a bit of trade and have a peaceful life. It doesn't seem too much to ask to me
Now it seems the Ukrainians are attacking Russia itself. Not Russian forces inside Ukraine, but actually in Russia. Ukraine Is Lobbing Eight-Ton Air-Defense Missiles At Russian Cities
Good. Ukraine has absorbed huge quantities of ordinance it's about time they threw it back. They're probably trying to force some frontline troops back to the homeland so they can press their counter offensive. Qué Putin spouting off some more garbage I expect
I think the hope was initially that ordinary Russian people would question why Russia was attacking Ukraine when Ukraine had posed no threat. That didn't happen, so now it's time to ditch the strategy of just defending. In martial arts, we have a saying, nobody can block forever. Meaning it's all well and good using purely defensive moves, but if you want to stop the threat, sooner or later you have to attack.
Is Putin starting to come to his senses, or is this just a ruse. Ukraine war: Putin says Russia does not reject peace talks
His version of peace will be he keeps all the annexed areas and Ukraine completely demilitarises and doesn't join NATO.
I guess we'll see. I don't think it's coincidence that most of the African leaders he invited to his little party stood him up. Perhaps he's starting to realise he has no friends.
"No peace talks while Ukraine is on the offensive", kind of says it all really, after you have recently invaded another country and then taken ground and dug in. This will not end until Putin is gone, and even then it might get worse. He has a friend in China, and India are crawling around him, as far as I know because they want his cheap energy, Iran, but does he really care about having friends, I dont think so.
I think we do but its getting less and in a different way. Probably if we stop it entirely then they will look to Russia.
They already look to Russia. Frankly after all the cash we've thrown at India over the years I think we should ask for a rebate!
