Putins opponents say that he will not back off, he will dig in rather than be seen as weak. Hes raiding the piggy bank, when money runs out he will use his escape plan and leave the. Russian people to mop up his mess.

At its peak Russia was the 11t h largest economy, Russia just doesnt have the money to outlast Ukraines allies. As usual it comes down to who has the most money.

Have you seen that Putin has blocked exports of petrol. He doesnt have enough to export, he needs it for the home market. An economy built on fossil fuels can only make enough for its own needs, that speaks volumes to me. Failing infrastructure, no spare parts and no skilled Western technicians.

 

Considering this started years ago, and for years Russia had a foot hold in Ukraine I get the feeling the idea of stalemate is kicking in.
Neither side appears to have gone anywhere this summer and winter is coming on again.

I think it suits Russia to just stay put for now, and in a couple of years just start up another "Special Military Operation".

The push might come depending on the outcome of the next American election.

Russia have been stockpiling missiles to use against Ukraine's energy infrastructure this Winter - which is no surprise.

It will be different this year though. Ukraine have ramped up production of their own home made munitions and plan to have a go at military assets in Russia.

The war is coming home to the Russia.

Hats off to the US lawmakers - legislation approved recently - to give seized Russian assets to Ukraine. Peskov is quite angry - even though Putin has done the same with Western assets.
