" I also 'happened' upon some 'Chempak High Potash Feed' that was in my shed. It's ratio is 15:15:30, would that be of any use ?"

Its not really any different - NPK still in the ratio 1 - 1 - 2 - the higher numbers just mean it is more concentrated pound-for-pound. You could use it to give a Potash-boost though.

"all in all I've done pretty much all I can"

Yup, I agree. I agree with Pete that grow bags are more problematic than pots. Even cutting them in half, upending them, and thus creating "pots" is I think preferable to the thin layer they create when lying flat. Having said that I've given up on pots this year and planted in the greenhouse border instead which has made the watering process easier - once every couple of days, instead of several times a day; I replaced the soild with half-and-half compost and manure, and will renew that each year (treating the greenhouse as a final stage of the composting process before rotating it out onto the veg patch)

Bob - cherry toms at the green stage are often a bit greener at the top, so unless they are already red with green tops don't give up!

Bob, that just sounds like normal development, your patience will pay off. One or two nice sunny days and you will soon find them ripening.

I haven't picked my Gardeners Delight for a while (too busy!) and they seem to have sorted themselves out. I expect they will be a bit mushy though, as they've been ripe, to my eye, for best part of a week now.

I use small cheap buckets for my tomatos I find they are much better than growbags, far easier to water. And they last for years.

I doubt very much if you have greenback Bob, the darker top is natural.
Here's a photo taken this evening of a cherry tomato - 'Gardeners Delight' and it certainly isn't suffering from greenback although the top of the fruit is darker than the rest.
