strongy, we start the day off at around 20-21 and go to about 28 which is very pleasant. We did have some massive storms the other day which only lasted for about twelve hours. It's unusual for August but we were very grateful for it.

We do collect rainwater in an underground cisterna which holds 19,000 litres. We need a new pump for it however so t'other half is investigating. He wants a three-way selonoid activated valve but electric ones are too pricey and manual ones are ineffective.

I got a couple of Colocasia esculenta corms a few weeks ago (from Portugal by the way, LOL). Planted them in pots but nothing showing yet. Anyone got any idea if I will see anything this year? Another 6 weeks or so and they will have to come in, along with 28 assorted cycads. As the new greenhouse is scheduled for next spring, I am considering whether we should move into the broom cupboard and just let the plants have the rest of the house. [IMG]

Good morning, John. I'm sorry I can't help you there as I buy everything in plant form as they are so cheap here. I hope you enjoyed your visit to this wonderful country.

Perhaps one of the those with expertise in this field can assist you with your specific question. Good luck.

Hi again LOL (and all). My own question was answered today

Don't know why it's appeared at the edge, I always plant in the middle. Still, I'm very happy, at least I know the corms were viable (I risked giving one to a friend).

And yes. Portugal is a wonderful country. Our oldest ally. [IMG] [IMG]

Sorry, pete, I thought you only had one leaf, no flowers ... understood ... but can understand why as I look every other day or so and then suddenly there were these pod like things. Done and dusted! [IMG]
