      Hi AR .
Thanks for the great reply. I`ll be following your advice on these for sure. My problem will be over wintering them this year. Putting them in the conservatory and hopefully they will make it throught he winter.
thanks again for the info.:blue thumb:

      Hi Wee Tam,

Why aren't you planting them out where they're to flower next year ?

Apologies for jumping in but I'm not planting mine out yet, I think the root system is too small for them to establish in the soil. I'll grow them on for a few weeks in a tray then I can keep my eye on them and keep them watered.

        Hi JWK,

I'd go for that, all mine will be out in about a month or so's time.
What I'm concerned about is Wee Tam keeping them indoors over winter.

Hi guys I thought the severe cold would kill them off ? Im expecting a severe one this year.
Would it be best to allow them to grow a bit then over winter in a cold frame so they dontget the chance to rot off in the conservatory over winter.? Cheers chaps:)

Where abouts are you from Tam, Carnations are extremely hardy.

You could perhaps keep them in a cold frame over winter, however the one thing they really do need is fresh air. So you'd have to make sure there was an airflow of some sort.

With it being an Elnino year again like it was in 2010 it might be a bad one again. Im on the look out for straw bales just in case. It got to -20c last time .
So a cold frame well aired on a good day sounds good to me.

@Scrungee .....had an email off VM to say there's free P&P this weekend. Looks from a first glance that the £5 voucher offer is still available plus buy 1 get 1 free on seeds. I haven't tried ordering as a bit busy this morning. Just giving you and others a heads up in case you want to have a go at ordering.

              @Fern4

              Dammit, they've fixed the glitch!

And from what I've just found trying to use Tesco Clubcard vouchers in conjunction with £5 emailed codes, I'd expect the same thing applies and the can't be used with those codes, or free P&P codes, or any other promotional Order Codes.

I think the Party's over at both VM and T&M, they've now fixed every single glitch, closed every loophole and prevented any offers being used with any other means of saving.

Well I for one am glad.

It's people mis-using the system that makes things more expensive for people like me who don't have the privilege of a computer.
What you do just pushes the price up for everyone else.

The other day someone was complaining that they bought three packets of seeds and were charged full price for the most expensive, well, so what..... If you partake in a 2 for 3 offer anywhere, say Boots or Superdrug for example, you always get the cheapest free.

I have to rely on a paper catalogue and use one voucher at a time. Why shouldn't everyone else ???
