Got my winter pansies, whilst I was away on holiday, luckily my son was at home and got them out the packaging - they looked very dry when I got home but mostly recovered after sitting in water for an hour. They are small, about 1" high:

Have just subscribed to their news letter. I missed out on the original offer but still some great offers are available. I have been impressed with their seeds free with the magazines I buy. I assume that they are approved by most of you as I intend to buy some of their plug plants?

@Rustler check the size of the plug plants. These are small plugs and aren't garden ready, but it's the case with all the suppliers that you have to check what size you're buying. I also got some stock plugs, which were mostly 2 plants per plug. All of my pansies have survived potting on, and all but one of my stocks have survived. In comparison, I managed to kill most of the tiny geranium plugs I got free from Thomson & Morgan.
To be honest, if they weren't on offer, then it'd be better buying mine from the local market of when on offer at Morrisons.

Thank you Cinnamon. Very valuable advise. They all look so substantial in the photos. I do like to see before I buy so will stick to the supermarkets and B&Q. etc. thank you.

I didn't bother ordering any plugs from VM, despite them being free/almost free because small plugs are too much like hard work, B&Q do some very good value plants ready to plant out and they work out quite cheap when there's 20% off, but free plants from Homebase using vouchers in The Telegraph is my favourite means of acquiring them, buy 5 copies @ £2 each from Waitrose using a MyWaitrose card and you will get one free, so £8 for ten packs of bedding/basket plants. Watch out for when I post details of their vouchers here.

Excellent Scrungee! You are a master at playing the game! I went to Asda's this morning and there is not one item of garden equipment or a plant to be seen anywhere. The whole section was taken over by back to school goodies. Cheers.
