I agree, sorry to be picky, as I know you guys have spent a lot of time doing an upgrade,:thku: but I often read a post, think about it and then go back to it after a while. Before I could just find it on the new posts button, now I've got to go searching through the discussion boards.

sadly both can't co-exist and i was asked by nathan and jo to do new posts in current way, however i'll add a favorites hack so you can "tag" threads to re-read later

From what I've seen of VBulletin else where I don't think New posts works like that (and I have to say that this format suits me well - I can see what I have not yet replied to etc.)

    Recent threads are available in:

    Quick links : Today's posts

P.S. Actually, it occurs to me that that works pretty much like the old New Posts page - for folk that prefer that?. Everything recent is listed, with an indicator for what is read, and what not. (Except that the indicator actually works :thumb:, whereas on the old way it sometimes shows as "Unread" even when it was read, and after a period of absence it marked everything as read)

thanks for pointing that out :D I was sure i had seen that somewhere.lol

mostly on my forums i'm so busy working behind scenes (run over a dozen websites) not got time to read posts,.

    I also added VBfavorites

allows you to tag a post or a thread as a favorite so you can access it easy from a dropdown in your navbar :)

    Looks handy :thumb:

The text "Add Post To Favorites" wraps in the first column - dunno if its easy / you want to replace it with an Icon?

If we're going for all singing all dancing, perhaps a nice simple change might be a 'mark thread unread' option, which would allow you to read something, then mark it as unread so that it still appears in the 'New Posts' result.

Perhaps another nice feature would be to have a quick link version of hitting Advanced Search and putting your username in to check up on threads you've posted in.

I reckon those aren't easy unless they are already provided for by vBulletin?

I've not come across the first on my travels.

For the Second: if you are in a thread you have posted to click on your name (against one of your posts) and then "Find more posts by [me]". Dunno if that link is valid for sticking in a Browser Favourite? Some of those "SearchID" type URLs seem to expire after a while ...

Alternatively: on your profile (NOT your User CP) there is a link, on the Statistics TAB, to "Find all posts by [me]" - that has a URL that looks like it would work on a permanent basis. (There is also a "Find all threads started by [me]" link, which may be useful?)

Apologies if you know all that already

Just to say that since the change my back arrow on the internet explorer menubar seems to no longer be working for Gardener's Corner, so I can't go back to the previous page. However it still works for all other sites.

Thanks for posting this Peter, I'm having the same issue with GC now as well, but not with any other sites.

I've found clicking the back arrow several times eventually works. Now I think about it, I had the same problem at work today, so it's not a local issue.

EDITED TO ADD - Seems to be sorted now. Nice one!

Its a shame that gardeners corner has had to become a paysite or else be assaulted with ads. I understand fully the need to raise funds for the things to run a site, but assualting members with ads spoils gardeners corner...heavily!

I'm certain that those who wanted to donate would have done so with just a link to the paypal account, but for those (like myself) who cannot afford the yearly subscription its a little unfair to be bombarded with ads.

Other bonus's could have been given to those who donate, using the arcade for example or increased space in the album area or something else...

You'll probably take no notice of this message from me anyway...but please consider the new members who join then quickly leave due to the ads...before paying to get rid of them...

    Steve...:)

Not too sure which thread I should put this on, but here we go. The new posts that don't disappear until you read them, do they eventually disappear? I don't want to read some threads, but I don't understand masses about computers/internet, so don't know if it is possible to do something about it. I'm already upto 3 pages (70 odd posts), so is there anything that I can do?

I think the changes are excellent, and I will certainly be paying to support the service, as I feel I have something to contribute to the site, and I can't stand adverts! What do you get in this life for free?

When you've read all you want to, if you go to the Quick Links point, you'll find in there an option Mark All Forums Read. Click that and all the remaining threads will disappear!

Glad you like the new forum and I certainly concur with your final observation!
