I used to use Photobucket (PB) for uploading to GC but, since the new forum, I haven't needed to do so :dbgrtmb:. I don't store any photos on PB apart from those uploads as I don't really want to trust my pictures to someone else - Luddite :heehee:

I store my photos (70,000) on my hard drive and two backup drives. So, being paranoid is a way of life :snork:

I must admit that if I clicked on a thumbnail photo on the old forum and it took me to an outside source I just shut it off and ignored the post. It hasn't happened to me on here yet. The other things with putting thumbnails on the old forum (don't know about on here yet) was that when I was going to reply to them the thumbnail then doesn't display so I couldn't look back at the photo.

I don't let these things annoy me, but I just don't bother with them.

I've been using PB since I joined the site.
I did not realise by doing that, anyone was being blasted with Ads of taken off and told they were prize winners.
      Its never happened to me.

I've always avoided using the site upload, usually because up to now it has always quibbled about size of pic, been a complicated process, and basically long winded.

Not tried since the last change over though.

I might have a go in this thread, so be prepared.

Shiney, I wouldn't trust my pictures to someone else either. You just don't know what's happening to them when they're in someone elses hands. :)

You could always buy your own website, that way you could have your own email address, so instead of a free one you could have it as (for example) [email protected] that's a fictitious email address but it shows my point.
You could have pictures on your site and link back to them, and the pictures would always be yours.

That's a good idea :) A blog would do in fact - I have linked to images on by Blog, including ones that don't exist in any "public" articles, e.g. where I have wanted a larger image than is permitted to be uploaded here.

        I've come across another problem!!!!!

I was starting a new thread and wanted to post 9 pictures. The onsite uploading facility would not allow more than 6 uploads. I tried posting six and then adding the other three but no joy.

        Can this facility be extended?

I haven't tried doing more than six by uploading to PB and then inserting the IMG but don't really want to take a retrograde step - even if it does work.

I think that's the per-message limit? Just write a second post with the final 3 images?

Thanks. I did that, anyway but it means just a little more thought to be put in before selecting the photos - My Brain Hurts! :heehee:

So after reading all the above. My question is: is there a way to upload directly to this forum from my computer --without--putting the pic first in a photobucket situation.?????

Well, I used to have to resize my photos, before posting, but now I can post them straight from my iPad. Yippee!! (I know, really sad to take the photos with the iPad, when I have a perfectly good DSLR, but it is soo much easier!)

Yes, click on the Upload a File, in where you write your posts, then go to where your pictures are and find the one you want to post, click on it then click open and it should upload under the post box, click on full or attment and then post reply
