The Parish council will write to my plot neighbours and ask them to reinstate the old fence, as soon as I know they have received the letter, I will offer to do the job for them, then let them know that the fence in contention will not see a rabbit pass from my side so they can use their materials to protect other parts of their plot. Hopefully that will be enough to satisfy everyone.

At least they should no longer be angry with me, as the instruction comes from the council.

    Steve...:)

      Want to Bet?
From the earlier description, I doubt they will see the difference. Personally I would let them get on and respond. If you offer to do the work they will:-
      1. Let you.
      2. Blame you for any problem they have in the future - including the Council re-inspecting the results and any follow-up instruction.

Stand back and let things develop - you never know you may end up with new neighbours.

Nope, definately not! She is unfortunately someone who likes to throw her weight around as others told me when I first joined the allotments site, and her man is much the same. But it's the lesser of two evils if the council tell them to move it, or I move it myself without council backing.

After the way they spoke at me the other day, entente cordiale is a million miles away anyway and dissapearing into the distance fast.

When all is said and done, they broke the rules and I've already offered to help several times, and will offer one more time as a peacemaking gesture, simply because we are neighbours.

          Hey Steve,

Have you got over the shock of it though? Being yelled at, I mean?

Heated confrontations are awful, and taking the high road and not yelling back can leave you feeling frustrated.

Your offering to help do the work is incredible generous and hopefully your charming neighbours will recognise that.

Steve, a short while ago you were going to "leave gc"
I do hope this was not due to STRESS

If it was Then PLEASE PLEASE do not let this incident get to you,
All on GC I am sure are behind you, so DO NOT let this carry on get to you

They seem totally ignorant, I can see IF they have crops in the space, then let them say so and agree to wait , Then move the fence, which as you say is NO LONGER NEEDED as you patch is protected, they can use the remnants elsewhere If they need to

Try not to let it get to you, and hard as it may be to do, speak to them again,so as it does not appear to them you are hiding behind the council
We know you are not but Halfwits find it hard to take in

          All the best Steve R

No but it'll give 'em somewhere to shelter under and watch all their lovely crops growing away for them :heehee: :D

Seriously though Steve - good luck :thumb:

Our allotment site has just started a "Club", and last Thursday I was voted in as Secretary (I knew this was going to happen, was just waiting for the official bit). The club was formed at the request of the Parish Council as no one on the council has any knowledge of Allotments and their needs. With the club now formed we can speak with one voice through a long time plot holder who now sits on the council.

The aim is to eventually "self manage" the allotments, so as member of the committee I have to ensure I do things correctly. If I let this present incident slip, it will come back to haunt me and the club in the future.

This is the main reason I have pursued this and will do until the fence is reinstated.

              Steve...:)
