Urgent legal advice needed

Steve, I was the allotments Officer in Hartlepool (1200+ plots) for some 35 years before retiring and an allotment holder for even longer, so I speak with no small amount of experience.

• 1. The land owners have the final say in all plot boundary matters.
• 2. The plot owner is reponsible at all times for his own property.
• 3. No personal (sub) agreement between plotholders overrides that of the landlord.
• Any pesonal agrement made with a previous tenant left with that tenant.

And finally, my personal advice; a good relationship with your neighbour is worth its weight in gold. Either repair the relationship or it's best that one of you leaves. Take it from me, allotment wars get dirty and at the end of it , it simply is not worth it. In this I am speaking from years personal experience an a deep stack of solicitors letters.

Come on Steve R wot's Happening does the plot thicken (excuse the pun) or wot ? we need to know we need updates please

 

It's in the hands of the Parish Council, I believe they are writing to the plotholders. I'll update as soon as I hear but there really is only one course of action. The plotholders moved their (our) fence and it's against our tennabts rules "Tenants should not under any circumstances seek to extend the boundaries of their plots".

I now have full permission to reinstate the fence back to the plot boundary as it was before. Although I have not spoken to my plot neighbours I'm led to believe they understand that it has to go back as was.

Finally, I started and finished the reinstatement of the contentious fence yesterday, and apart from my neighbour taking many photographs of the work in process, there has been no conversation between us. Here are some photo's or before (2) and after(also 2), in the last shot I've added a white line to show where the carpet lies from the second shot above, as I got it a bit mucky doing the work..! The carpet will be pathway









Hopefully now, it's the end of all hostilities as I for one will not get involved at all.
