    Just got this email,

    Dear Ziggy,

Breaking news! The government have announced they will pause forest sell-offs for a few months. It's a brilliant sign, but our forests are still in danger. If we keep working together, we can save our forests forever - not just for a few months.

The government is still going full steam ahead with changing the law to clear the way for a 100% sell-off. It looks like they hope the fuss will die down if they pause a few sales here and there - so they can press on with quietly scrapping legal protection for our public woodlands.

Our petition is now 490,000 strong. Let's show the government we will keep campaigning until English forests are safe, by making sure the petition passes half a million signatures today.

Please forward this email and ask your friends to sign:
    http://www.38degrees.org.uk/save-our-forests

Picture yourself in the last forest you visited. Remember how you felt, what you saw, how peaceful it was. Now imagine hearing that this beautiful place has been auctioned off. We just can't let it happen!

By working together, bit by bit, we are protecting our woodlands for future generations. Since 38 Degrees members voted to launch this campaign, we've spread the word, emailed our MPs, and chipped in to pay for opinion polls and adverts. It’s starting to work - today is a time to celebrate. But we also need to keep the pressure building.

Please forward this email and ask your friends to help get our petition past half a million signatures today:

    Let's keep going!

David, Johnny, Hannah and the 38 Degrees team

 Yes I have had that one too Zig as I am a member of 38..!! Yes we need to keep the pressure on as we are nearly at the 500,000 mark for the petition.....!!!!!

 I am not at all sure about leasing the forests either... Their will have to be a strict role of limitations by a separate governing body which will need to be monitored & listened too or we shall still see our forests ruined forever....!!!!!!

The first thing that this shower in G'ment did was to make sure they couldn't be voted out for 5 yrs. :WINK1: They can now do what they like. In 5yrs time no one is going to care about the forests, they're going to think " Oh they've cut the taxes." I've written to my MP etc. but it's not going to make a difference. Congrats to everyone who voted Tory or even voted. Now you know why you vote, replace one crowd of rubbish for another crowd of rubbish. This isn't a rant. I'm genuinely intersted in why you vote for these clowns who care nothing about anything, other than how can they stay in power.

:what: Hmmm .... I am undecided about this to be honest...................................... I am convinced we need to keep the pressure on before the government suddenly come in & say........... OOOOPPPSSSS....... OK but as far as I am concerned if you didn't keep talking to us & you keep the pressure on so we thought you were in agreement with us................................................. I have to say I grew up in the New Forest as a child & the thought of losing this to private ownership or even charities will mean we will lose part of our Heritage...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am really concerned about this & that the Government is trying to pull the wool over our eyes as usual......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Although the minister has said the Government's decided to drop the Forest Sale she also said that she was going to form an "independent" body of "independent and interested parties" later this year to decide on what path the Forestry Commission has to take now that they been forced by public opinion to drop their plans to sell off our forests. Does that sound as though they've given up? I still think they'll try to do it by changing the character and aims of the Forestry Commission and then say it's not fit for purpose and introduce a new and more compliant body. The old joke about "how do you know when a Politician is lying" still stands: i.e:

If a Politician scratches his nose - he's not lying.
If a Politician looks you in the face - he not lying.
If a Politician puts his hand out to shake yours - he's not lying.
If a Politician smiles at you - he's not lying.

If a Politician opens his mouth - he's LYING!!

I ain't too sure about that, Ziggy. I think they'll wait and slowly change and weaken the structure we've got now and drip by drip ,,,,,,,,,

   Sorry Ziggy... I know we have had this letter, but I do not trust this government I think they are just trying to lure us into a false sense of security that they will do as the electorate asks.............................!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Not so sure they will at at all....... So keep a watchful eye & the pressure on as I have told 38 Degrees......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:thumbsup:

This is the latest I have had from 38, but I shall keep the pressure on as I hope you will too, so as to not let the Government do a U turn on it as they say there was no support from the public......BE VIGILENT EVERYONE PLEASE....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know this is very important to me personally, but think YOU & everyone should be involved..... They are part of our Heritage.........!! What if the UK had no forests left... Or even walks left...!!!!

DEVASTATION & GREED WILL WIN IF WE ARE NOT VIGILENT..!!! :WINK1: :dbgrtmb:

I AM STILL VERY MUCH A PART OF THIS.........................................!!!!!!!! Keep a watch on them..!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.

The UK has more Ancient trees than any other country in Europe, except perhaps the Vatican City.
