No. It was installed by my computer dealer when I bought my computer. Cost about £30 I think, but not sure.

A small FREE programme, which I have used for several years, is Spyware Blaster ..this very small programme works in the background constantly and stops a lot of these nasties getting on your computer in the first place. Just remember to update it ..
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/

and a link I have bookmarked and use every day is Calendar of Updates, which gives a Daily reminder of all the updates available .. it saves going through all the security programmes that do not automatically update....

    http://www.dozleng.com/updates/index.php?act=calendar

Another reminder re Firewalls, which no-one who is on the internet should be without, is to SWITCH OFF the Windows own firewall as having two running is detrimental ...the Windows firewall is only one directional (incoming) and this isn't sufficient .....personally I use Zone Alarm (free version) and have found it to be excellent.

finally ..there is a very good anti Spam programme, again free, which integrates itself into OE and Outlook automatically, Lockspam. I tried Mailwasher, but didn't like the fact I had to open Mailwasher before OE.....

    http://www.polesoft.com/

It is very efficient, any Spam that arrives it is filtered to a 'Spam box', and then deleted on closure of OE.

I have the Macafee package. Costs me £60 a year but seems to be doing it's job very well. Was tempted to change to some free for download software, but then my mate got a virus and it virtually wiped out her PC at great expense, so I'm sticking with this for a while. It's a problem when you don't really know that much about computers....

I use freebie software as well and have found it works well. I have AVG and Zone Alarm plus Spybot and Adaware. My ISP also filters the Spam. To add to what Dave W has said - most of these warnings about viruses are hoaxes but it doesn't harm to be careful. I don't like sending these on to friends because it can worry them un-neccessarily so check them out like Dave does. There is another website you can check them on as well. www.truthorfiction.com
