It`s a good thing that so many people registered to vote this time, if Obamas colour is what it took to do it then so be it. Voting someone in because they are black is still better than because they were once in the movies.

I agree that he shouldn`t be driving by any "grassy knolls" just for the time being.

I've just gone back and read it.

It makes me angry that people can be like that, and it is so very sad :(.

Of course, this happens amongst all races, colours, creeds and religions and shows how uncaring and callous people can be. Even so, I still have great faith in how good people can be as well.

Dreadful story Redstar. Unfortunately it happens all too often with old people-"family" forget they exist until death then suddenly any potential of money and there they are, hovering around like flies round ****

Thanks Shiney and Aaron, the experience certainly was horrid. i've had other clients who have passed due to old age, and the family will acknowledge by saying something like "You folks have been there for her/him not us and we want to thank you for all the care you have given him/her", we know we were not involved with her/him like your were".
It was nothing like that with this group. It is not an experience I will forget.

Well like it or lump it he is in, Personally Ill lump it as were I to be american I would have voted Mc Caine to me obama lacks experience and is a man of hollow words and open policys.

Intrestingly this is how I view David camerons 'new' Conservative party, Fortunately I feel the tradition conservative party policys and values will prevail once we are back in power.

Thats the point, and maybe next time, or the time after that, the only option will be a black president, if its found to be the only way of winning.

Strange how quickly things change these days.

Redstar I agree with Shiney on this one death in a family may bring out the worst and best in people no matter who or what they might be, I like to believe that there are more good than bad people out there.Hel.xxx.

Yesterday, one of my co-workers who happens to be from Kenya, said, he did not think Obama will do for the Kenya people that Bush did for them, he further said he voted for McCain. And he is sad that Obama won.
You know Obama has to think, he won a lot of the votes only because he was of color, to me that would be an insult. Its a shame, a shallow statement has to be made that: He only got in because of his color. If you took the same person, the same message and made him white who would have won?
I guess I am more saddened by the shallowness of America than who won.

    (Thanks Hel)

From the outside of America-from the perspective of an insignificant English woman, it says a great deal about the America I watched on telly as I grew up. I will apologise in advance if I offend anyone.

From what I see ( which is of course media manipulated), I see your country to be obsessed with the issue of colour. I am very impressed with your compatriots in voting for a black president. I had thought you were an incurably racist country at heart. McCain came across as an old duffer with a pitbull as second man. Whereas, Obama seems to be the epitome of the American dream. He`ll lie, and connive, and bribe and warmonger. That makes him no different to any of them.

I, personally, would have voted for Obama.

I like to think he would have. Aren't the American public fed up with wars overseas (instigated by a Republican government) or do they care?

I dont think you can say Americans are shallow for voting in Obama, America needed a change, its just that the options were limited.
The fact that Obama gained a lot of votes though race is a worrying thought as it suggests that things are changing 180 degrees.

As you say, would it have been a closer run thing if Hillary Clinton had been the candidate?
    I would have thought so.

You will have to see, if he acts as well as he talks, and he CAN talk, it might work out OK.:)
