Would it? I thought being a woman is as *bad* as being black!! :D:D:D

Come on what president is ever evelected for what he IS? Every president is in a sense a symbol of his time, a wish. All in all, I think this is a GOOD wish. I just hope they don't shoot him. Give him a chance, Redstar!:)

Well, there is nothing else that can be done but give him a chance to see what Changes he will make.

That's true red irrespective of colour class or creed the man is now in and it's up to him to sort the country out or should I say the senate after all he is only a figure head and has to heed the people behind him.

:) I have realy enjoyed the election.
Barack Obama...........a name that didn't sound to presidential.
"Put lipstick on a pig it's still a pig.....who said that.
Sara Palin (loved her in the red suit and black boots)she was an exiting surprise running mate for McCain but what a personality was worth watching.
Looking at the papers today I think he (Obama) has just realized what he has let himself in for.
What a message to the world...........All things are possible now.
Good luck to him any way.......he will probably(definitely)need it.

At least you were able to vote for your president unlike here with our latest PM.

Obamas first proper address was IMO distinctly lacking in delivery and content, as was his victory speech.

Mc Caines losing speech however was a work of art, on parr with William Hauge in terms of eloquence.

The trouble with William Hauge was at the time he was in an impossible position, a labor government in a dreamy infancy and some with long memory's of John Majors mistakes.

Coupled up with the laughably overstated yet valid policy Ie 'keep the pound' that overshadowed everything else in the Conservative campaign.

We could start a thread on this entitled "The trouble with William Hague":hehe:

Always came across as a stupid schoolboy as far as I was concerned, could never take him seriously and did the Conservative party no end of damage.

I've seen him recently and he does seem to have matured a bit.

    * Agree with that Pete.

But talking about stupid schoolboy - Cameron doesn't exactly come across as mature or strong :skp:

Can't see us getting rid of Brown while Cameron is 'leader' but have we got an 'Obama'-type politician
anywhere? (Not necessarily black but just charismatic and strong)
