    Caj, I drift between.

Last election there was no one standing for UKIP locally. Whilst I support UKIP in principle the party lacks grounding on many issues and will take years to become electable, I want labour out and will happily vote and support the Conservatives to empower this.

Hi PG. As I've said before, everyone has their own opinion. I'm dead straight working-class. Maggie and her cohorts made a direct attack against me and mine. I can't possibly vote for anyone unless they repudiate her beliefs. no-one (not even the Labour party) has done that. So I guess I'll just keep voting for anything other than right-wing. Sorry mate but I'd still happily share a pint with you!!

Sorry for butting in, but what is this hate campaign against Maggie?

It seems everyone remembers here for one thing or another, mostly bad.
But I dont think many people remember the complete and utter state the country was in when she took over, true she perhaps did not do everybody any favours, infact when she took over we were entering a recession just like now, I believe.
World events cause all kinds of problems, but at the time she took over we were regarded as "The sick man of Europe" by our so called friends over the channel.

The Poll tax was the fairest system ever invented, but it was her downfall.

Pete. Different perspective is the only thing. Depends where you were where.:thumb:
I was at the bottom of the pile. Her policies hurt me and mine. Glad you were at the top.

Sorry. Just looked at that again. A tax that you have to pay just because you breathe, is fair.?? You have to register where you are going to move is fair??
Glad that Pushkin is in charge of Russia. Otherwise the "old guard" Russians might be over here:hehe:

Hey come on mate, I've never been the top of the pile, or are ever likely to be so.

As I remember it, things we very bad in the country in general, when she took over, and a whole lot better at the time she was ousted.

No political party has ever done me any favours, or are likely to, we the masses are doomed to pay out all our lives.

As to the poll tax, (not sure if you were refering to that or not), but the fair part about it was that everyone who took something out was expected to pay something in.

Unlike the rediculous situation at the moment, if you are a house holder you pay the lot,in person, every other hanger on gets it free.

    No way is that fair.

The problem was it was a flat rate, therefore a massivly unfair kick in the nuts for folk on a low income and a laughably low sum for the wealthy.

To my mind the current system works OK but needs the higher tax bands altering so the very very wealthy pay more. Coupled with an increase in minimum wage and a total rethink of the benefits and immigration systme...... then again thats getting really far off topic.
