    Thanks Auntpol but that would be too small for us. I am looking for a 2TB one at present. Seagate do one like the one we already have.

      I have 3 on the go, rotating the backups every month. One is stored in my office desk (i.e. not at home in case of fire/flood).

      For cheapness I use a USB to IDE adaptor from Dealextreme, then bought a couple of used big HDDs off ebay. It doesn't look very neat but it's a cheap and as they spend most of the time stored in a box/desk it doesn't matter.

        Ah, but we have Vouchers for Amazon and that reduces the price by 50%. She says I can have it once her new Breadmaker comes through.

        I have that very same trouble because we could muster around £150 in Amazon vouchers if we took them rather than cash, etc. from various sources of earnings and Mrs Scrungee views them as 'free money' rather than 'earned money'
