    Tip from Mrs shiney,

when she is travelling around she always sees plants that need a bit of pruning [IMG] (cuttings) so keeps small plastic bags, sealed up, with compost in them. When does her pruning she then makes small holes in the bags and sticks the cuttings in.

Here is a picture of a bought bag being used for that purpose. It is handy if you are going away for a while because they cuttings can be kept in the car if necessary.

It's the time of year when many of our beds need a thorough weeding and that often means digging them over. That can be hard work so to get out of it put your arm in a sling and invite younger relatives and/or neighbours round for a cup of coffee then ask them to make their own coffee because it is so difficult doing anything because of the tennis elbow, fibromyagia, boils or whatever. Then start whinging about how difficult the weeding is. Once you have trapped someone into volunteering to do a bit of weeding for you - you've got 'em for life. Have you seen the price of hiring a jobbing gardener? If one sling doesn't do it then put slings on both arms. Oh and limping heavily doesn't hurt either.
