I've just come back from the Pyrford and Wisley show and the show tent is reassuringly sparse. Only a few great specimens so we're all in the same boat.
I've just dug up some Maris pipers for dinner :)

I was pleasantly surprised :) more so as they were just a handful of spares from the sack of spuds I got over Christmas time. Looks like I'll be able to get a very decent crop

I wish I could say the same, I dug some more Foremost, good size but poor yield for 3 roots.

On the other hand, the Toms in the greenhouse are big but not ripening very well.

Planted my leeks today, about 40 stations multisown so should end up with 120 or so if they make it. Also planted out some salads and sowed some parsley and black radish.

I also planted my first ever leeks over the weekend. All about six inches tall and 1/8 inch thick. Dropped into 1" dibbed holes 4" deep. Looks a bit odd. I hope they make it!

Three rogue runner bean seeds germinated from the home made compost that I added prior to planting. I think I'll just let them be.

                    Ha !
Did that once but made a mistake in giving it 'up front' with the instruction of "Just pick anything you fancy"
Returned after 14 gloriously sunny days, tanned and relaxed
to find everything dried up and dying.
                    Neighbour when found says
"I so enjoyed all the vegetables you gave, there were so many
that I didn't need to go round at all " !!

It's a cut and come again oriental leaf veg with a dill/aniseed-like taste when cooked.

I have finally started picking some tomatoes!! Third cucumber and a dipsy supply of runner beans. My courgettes are an embarrassment. I think it may be too hot now.

Not hot here but dry @Tui34 and, despite all the winter and spring rains and being planted with copious amounts of garden compost and manure, my courgette and squash plants are very thirsty and need regular watering. There are teeny little fruits forming on the Utchiki Kuri and the pale Italian courgette finally has a few fruits forming. The other 4 plnts are just sitting there with a few flowers.

One of the Swiss chard has bolted and the rest are also just sitting there. Broccoli and pointy cabbage doing OK but not exhuberant. I might have to get an old blusher brush I've kept and pollinate the tomatoes by hand. Potatoes OK so far - better than expected in fact but I've only lifted one plant so far - enough for dinner last night and leftovers for lunches.

Beetroots ready for roasting tomorrow night. Don't do peas or beans.
