I'm up for a giant tomato competition (as I was going for this anyway this year!). What about timing of the weigh-off, as everybody's tomatoes will be ripening at different times and they don't hang around for long? (unless you have a separate fridge to keep them in at a constant 10 °C/50 °C).

In that case might I suggest a submit when ready weigh in. Just post the weight when the Tomato has reached its optimum?

I'll let this thread run a while longer, to make sure we're all happy, then i'll start a new one for the comp & stick it to the top.

Vince's thread is now on page 1 of this one, looking at it there are a few variety options.

As with the Pumpkin competition, progress could be checked with a tape measure using this chart (from Marvin Meisner's book - I have a copy and can summarize/post lots of the advice)

I have about 300 seeds saved from Phil's Fantastic in 2011 going spare if anybody has trouble sourcing seeds (or even if they want to try an additional variety?).

Well I'm sticking with "Big Boy", "Delicious" and ROGUE "gardeners delight" !!!!

Seriously, banning the girls from the greenhouse this year after the havoc they inflicted last year swapping plant labels :(
