If the Hebe were alive, thriving and bursting with life I'd be happy but its really not. It also in the wrong place in the herbaceous border. The woody Lavender next to it has already met its maker and the Perovskia close by has been pruned and is in last chance saloon....

Claire that peony looks beautiful. But I'd be happy with a bog standard deep pink peony (if they can ever be called bog standard).

Aaron, Lavender and Perovskia are short lived, Hebes aren`t. Claire, where`s my fanclub?

Now Aaron, they are my very favourite flower, and although they are only briefly in flower, when they are they are in full bloom they are the only thing worth looking at (obviously in my own opinion), roses very nearly rival them for a sense of presence but not quite.

The rubra plena is a stunner if you want a deep pinky red

, a lighter pink that I am also saving up for is Hana-kisoi

And the one I am yearning to have in the garden is this one

    [IMG] Golden Wheel Peony-truly stunning.

I'm not that keen on this one-its quite small so its a good excuse to cut it back hard and see what happens, otherwise its for the chop!

Ok, I've pruned it back hard. The wood looks dead and only a few stems had any green when they were cut. How long do you think before it should start sprouting (if it does - I am still dubious...)?
