I would totally agree about using AVG Free, excellent software but to get rid of your problem, I would use Spybot - Search & Destroy from here...

Once installed, update it to get the latest protection and then scan your system.

Run and update it once a month for continued protection

help i can not download AVG there is no download button, got everything else but no down load :confused:

on the next page click download at bottom of 3rd column in box in the centre of page

next page click on download

eventually got it working it is running now and testing, no threats or virus as yet when it is finished i will switch off and turn on again to see if it has took the violation off will let you know later.

Sunshine P. The problem as I said is that there are lots of free anti malware programs around. But no single one catches everything. You may have to try more than one.

Your right there PeterS dont know whats happening now my computer would not start up for some reason and i still have the violation thingy coming up and AVG thing is telling me that there is an error in it and need to reinstall it is there no end to this hard work think might leave it now and get someone in to do it and maybe i will be alright then :confused:

well there is good news i think the violasion thingy has disappeared havent seen it for a while but on the AVG front the resident sheild is not loaded and the email scanner is not fully functional how do i get them to work properly cos it keeps telling me it need urgent attention I am trying to put the resident shield on but it wont let me think i am going to do this to my computer soon

 

Hi Patricia, have you tried opening AVG control centre and clicking on view?
You get a drop down menu, select Components then click on Resident Shield and check that the box saying it is enabled is ticked.
Let me know if you still have problems and I will try and take some screen shots of what you should have.

Mike i have done something to this now i will have to reinstall AVG cos the shield thing disappeared and couldnt get it back so uninstalled it back in a mo

 

Think i am there now mike every thing seems ok but still have no shield on the list dont know where its gone apart from that aok hopefully :D

no please dont i thought i had got rid of it but it has reared its ugly head again, it has got something to do with the disc drive cleaner that mysteriously appeared and now cant get rid of help needed to try and get rid of it please
