I used to use Firefox years ago but when I changed computers about 10 yrs ago I ended up getting used to chrome, I'm a bit of a "if it aint broke dont fix it" type person, as you probably guessed, but thank for the idea.

I did finish the download and opened it, even put in my Email address, but it was just a more complicated version of what I have already.

ps, Don't forget there is always Microsofts Outlook free email service if you are not keen on Gmail.
Outlook – free personal email and calendar from Microsoft

Anything has got to be better that Virgins email service which if you stay with it always makes it more difficult if you want to leave Virgin for another ISP.
We moved from Virgin 15 month ago, just getting too expensive and they would not haggle, we were lucky enough to have a choice in our area and got another 100mb fibre service for just £20 a month.

I was thinking that maybe I would pack Virgin in at some point, they have just installed full fibre in my street via poles, and keep getting leaflets put through the door.
Also playing with the idea of getting rid of the landline, I never use it.

Is that BT or Vodafone ?

Most new fibre providers supply Routers that have a socket for a nornal telephone handset along with a local number, only chargeable if you make any calls, no rental.
The big problem they are on about is if the broadband goes down, so does the phone line, hence you need a mobile or two, to be sure you can contact folk in an emergency.
That said, the fibre networks do seem very reliable, well at least for us.

If you do decide to leave Virgin beware of their tactics to keep you, to avoid such problems we did not phone them but sent a signed for letter.

Also though your fibre leaflets may sound like good deals, if you use sites like this you can get the same or better deal plus discount vouchers worth up to £100, as we did, but you have to do all that online, you cannot get those discount vouchers by phone applications.

Don't be caught out by the Time limits on those deals, they pop up with very similar new deals almost as soon as one ends.

Its getting really stupid now, I only have E mails from three days ago, they appear to have lost all my e mails before then.
They sent me an e mail, that I couldn't read at the time because it wasn't working:scratch:, on the 20th, it says they haven't lost any data, if not where is it?

I dont think its worth trying to contact them, I really dont want to spend a couple of hours on the phone just to get hung up on, I've had that tactic from them before.

That's what I was getting. It did mend itself pretty quickly - crazy it is still playing up with you in Kent. Have you been able to report it@ In my experience with Virgin once it gets passed to the engineers they are quick off the mark. I accidentally dug through the cable in the front garden a couple of years ago and had to get them out. Fully expecting to pay for my mistake they came and fixed it without even asking who was responsible.

@pete - have you looked around the Virgin Forum, usually someone around to help , though as you can see here , you are not alone !
Lost of Historic Emails Since Monday 19 June 2023 - Virgin Media Community - 5349277

The sooner you transfer to another Email provider like Gmail or Outlook the better.
Not sure how important saving your emails are to you, but think like most things you can make you own backup copies of them to avoid such problems, though don't know what program to suggest for doing that.

Used Gmail for many years and never hand any loss of service or mails, though like anythng it does not mean it cannot happen, though with someone as big as google less likely.

Hope you are starting to move your email system to Gmail or similar to avoid Virgins problems.

Once they find your emails you ought to make a backup copy of them - heres how -
How do I backup my emails | Virgin Media Ireland

If you do move to Gmail or Outlook etc, if you search the web there are loads of pages on how to backup their emails.

Re that Thunderbird program we use - it actually is a backup of Gmail or whatever provider you use, as Thunderbird holds all the Emails to and from Gmail , while at the same time its all there on Gmails servers as well.
Thunderbird also has its own inbuilt backup / export routine to a .zip file etc
You can use Thunderbird with Virgin Mail and Gmail and Others all at the same time, very handy.

Got a problem here too, can't log in to get emails. The Service Checker says there is an issue with our broadband.
