    Height is about 2m? I'm not too bothered about having to cut it often if it's going to look better from the house, although "famous last words".. Looking at it at the moment (I'll put a photo up tonight/tomorrow) it's hard to imagine it doing anything!

    Not heard of a Chinese Virginia Creeper before, it does say it looks good with a winter jasmin which is a bonus... Mind you saying that, all the leaves seem to be falling off the winter jasmin too!?

    post vanished, how annoying :(

    As I was saying;

    I don't mind cutting back often if it looks good from the house (better than a stinky fence) although looking at it right now - I'll put a photo up tomorrow - it's hard to imagine it doing anything!

    Not heard of a chinese VC before, looks good and goes well with a Winter Jasmin! What's the chances of that? That said, the leaves on the Winter Jasmin seem to be dropping off too :/

    Winter flowering Jasmine ( Jasminum nudiflorum ) is also deciduous goose, that`s why the leaves are dropping. It`s also a shrub not a climber.:dbgrtmb:

      Now that is a really lovely climber , a new one to me , thanks for the tip Melinda :dbgrtmb:
      How come every time I come on here it cost me a tenner for a new plant ! Also is it not past the wit of man to have plant names that are actually pronounceable ! Henyrana is a bit of a tongue twister :D

          Yeah I knew the Jasmine isn't strictly a climber (although is marketed as one pretty much everywhere?!) so I've tied it up pretty well to give it some help.

          What's going to happen then? I'm going to be left with two stalks (VC & WJ) and a load of random white flowers? Well, that will be slightly more interesting than the fence I suppose. I bet the neighbour is having a right old laugh :o

          I did originally have a Lavatera against the fence as my girlfriend likes them and says they grow pretty big & bushy, but I think it was a bit "shady" there and it didn't look too happy so I moved it somewhere sunnier

          Hi, your plant looks just fine, good and healthy. Not sure if you have chosen the right plant for the situation though. This is a very vigorous plant once established, quite capable of overwhelming your fence in only a few years. The colour change in the leaves to a bright red before dropping is one of its best features. I have one and have to be quite brutal to it two or three times a year. It has dominated my 8ft wall, next doors Lilac and the Poplar tree beyond that!

            Lulz at your forlorn picture! ^^^

            Gooseh- I know Im a wrong'un for giggling! :D

            It a deciduous plant! Its supposed to look like that at this time of year!

            It will wake up next April time. They cope with savage New England winters, it gets mighty cold in Massachusetts and Maine.

                  I do mine mid summer with a trim
                  And back to two foot in the autumn
