I hadn't noticed the other link, as you say its a very interesting selection. What a shame about the crashes, mind you I think these modellers get more enjoyment out of building than flying sometimes!

I've a general interest in aviation - used to fly planes, and I admire the skill and craft of modellers, but could never be that dedicated to it myself.

You could always use a model 'copter flying inverted to cut the grass....

I don't know the first thing about planes but I LOVE them! Years ago there was a big air show in Parma my home town for the anniversary (don't remmebr which) of the Italian air force (yep, we have one :D), and there were plenty of planes of all sizes, ages, shapes and colours, itwas breathtaking and faboulous beyond words. They had also contrievedtopark a Tornado in the town main square.... the medieval and classical buildings, old cobbled roads, Garibaldi Statue... and a Tornado, can you imagine it?!!!!
    Wow!!
We have three different airports close to home now, now and then the american boys fly pretty low over the fields, I don't know I am more worried or enthranced.

Interesting story Ivory, and it must have been quite a contrast between the old and the new.

Maybe cos the Vulcan isn't fitted with afterburners!!

Except for one they used as a test bed for the Concorde engine, they mounted the Concorde engine under the bomb bay , they could fly the plane on just the single Concorde engine which did have afterburners.

I did not want to mention the fact that the Vulcan does not have afterburners. But what I can mention is I was at Farnbourgh when they flew that beast and I have a picture of it somewhere on my desktop. Woiuld you like to see it?
