Sorry, I dig better than I type lol, it was one clump of root that I dug out of the bank, (the last photo in my post above is whats growing where I dug out the clump TODAY, ie some of its still growing strong if unloved)

The clump I then transplanted to the rockery I divided into three coz it looked like thats what I should do (years in the garden with Grandad Potty told me to pull them apart:) so I'll blame him lol)

on a side note then! what time of year should I move the other plant?

    Plant Potty.

Well, you've certainly dispensed with the old myth about not being able move Paeonies and gone further by splitting a clump into three!!:roflol:...........broken all the rules!!:heehee::thumbsup:

I wouldn't move the other plant until late Autumn or early Winter just to be sure. Don't forget to feed them:snork:

lol but it worked:dancy: anyway joking aside I do like both the plant and the flower, the plants life cycle, from hero to zero, above the ground, mine have had no love at all, no food or anything:(, so I'm gonna make an effort and see what they can do with a little help, at my dispossal I have good intent, hard work and anything from the gardening section in poundland (as I tell Mrs Potty "its love babe, but on a budget":) )

So.... how deep do I prep the hole and how big, ideal size? what should I put in? blood n bone? I know it may seem i'm asking what I know coz I've already transplanted one, but I think/know the hole might of been a bit small, I do like the idea of one in the lawn, so that needs to be done proper and once only, hence I ask.

      Plant Potty.

Well, when you move it the hole only needs to be as wide as the clump and only so deep that it leaves whatever shoots are showing......or if no shoots, so that the top of the clump is level with the soil around. You don't have to cover it with soil. Personally, so long as your soil is reasonable I wouldn't give it any fertiliser at the time of planting as no fertiliser will make the Peaonie search for food and put down roots quickly. Then in Spring as soon as the shoots start showing give it a weekly feed of Miracle Grow, or the like, and then as it bursts into leaf start feeding it with Tomato Fertiliser instead.. I know the idea of one in the lawn sounds good...but the grass around it will compete for food and make it harder for the Paeonie so you would have to make a little space around it between the grass and Paeonie.:snork: Don't forget to keep us up to date on how you get on!:snork:

I'll let you know I'm an excellent cook, even if I say so myself!!! You're being modest, Joolz, as it was several bottles of wine as you well know, [went down like she was drinking water!:dunno:].
