Blimey, why has your chicken got a loudhailer attached to it's bum :rotfl:

You must take some waking up in the morning, maybe the cockerel isn't loud enough?

Did I mention that I may be moving house, so have to juggle pots, uncultivated plots, I have no idea.

And that everyone had agreed that I get a 1 foot head start? Look, here's the agreed list-

    Ziggy searchfield
    JWK
    theruralgardener
    SussexGardener
    Pete
    Alice
andrewh (everyone has agreed he gets a 1 foot head start because of possible house move)

I'm going to get my excuse in early as well :hehe:

I'll have to start mine off late as well - but it makes it more of a challenge :). I'm not sure about the putting in of a heavy supporting stake as that is the sort of thing I'm not allowed to do any more but I'll twist someones arm about that :hehe:.

It looks, from the link put up, that it is an 18 month job. I'm sure I can think of plenty of other excuses in that time. :lollol: :lollol:

I'm not much of a challenge :hehe: as I don't find time to look after the plants. All the plants in our garden have to fend for themselves. A nice dollop of compost to start and watering when I think of it is what they get. Pests are allowed to get on eith their job without hindrance :(.

Do I take the top off when it has reached 20ft? :lollol: :lollol:

Girls, you seem to have put an extra "0" on your cabbage height estimate.

    Just a typo, I'm sure.

    Oops! Sorry Shiney.

Oh in that case, fair enough, 20ft is probably about the average that Team Lads will achieve.

...well I have just returned to my current home in York, having spent a few days living in our 'new' aka dilapidated money pit smallholding over near Otley, (but with lovely views!)

As well as still working three or four days a week working in other ppls gardens, I am now preparing to move into our new place...with cracks 3cm wide in the inside walls due to the need of underpinning and with a serious amount of lime plastering and other work doing, (but with lovely views)...and a garden which is currently overgrown with brambles and ground elder, (but which will eventually have lovely views!)

BUT! I am determined to have a go at the walking stick cabbage challenge!

We women are good at multi tasking you see....:D
