I have to be careful, my imagination is far too vivid fro anything explicit or harrowing, that is about the refugee children who came here yeah?

Yep. Its not that explicit-but it is written using testimony from the children who were rescued. None of them were over 17 years old at the time, so their perception of what was happening then is interesting.

I'll add it to my list of what to keep an eye out for. I had recurring nightmares the last time I read anything like that ( something about Rwanda, the title and aithor excape me temporarily).

NOW I know what to buy my OH for his birthday this month! :) He's an avid fan - and a book is easy to pack and hide away in my luggage when we go on our cruise (same time as his birthday:thumb:)

    Thanks :gnthb:

    chau·vin·ism (sh[IMG][IMG]v[IMG]-n[IMG]z[IMG][IMG]m)n.
    1. Militant devotion to and glorification of one's country; fanatical patriotism.
    2. Prejudiced belief in the superiority of one's own gender, group, or kind:
You may be right Claire, but he sure writes a good story...:gnthb:

Thats the latest Wilbur Smith book finished and being one of his best fans I have to give it 10/10 from.
I must admit to being a little made up during some of the big game hunting sections. If you are a lover of African big game then this book may not be for you.
My next epic is Whirlwind by James Clavell A thousand page plus epic.
Should lull me to sleep for a week or two!

Time for a bit of an update.
I gave up on Whirlwind by James Clavell .
Just not my style of writing Im afraid. I attempted about 200 pages before closing it up for good.
Sorry James, you only get a 5/10 for all your effort.

I then moved onto Wuthering heights.
Gave up with that as well which was a suprise to me.

I am now working my way through Myths and Legends of Ancient Greece and Rome by E.M. Berens and this I am finding very interesting.

Quote: Rhea, the wife of Cronus, and mother of Zeus and the other great gods of olympus, personified the earth, and was regarded as the great mother and unceasing producer of all plant-life.
She was also believed to exercise unbounded sway over the animal creation, more especially over the lion, the noble king of beasts. Rhea is generally represented wearing a crown of turrets or towers and seated on a throne, with lions crouching at her feet. She was is sometimes depicted sitting in a chariot, drawn by lions.

So, now we know who to blame when it all goes wrong.!
maybe a small temple in her name in the garden may help.
    Keep reading guys.

I think I have got every one of his books and a signed edition of Warlock.
I think I could start with his first book again and enjoy every one.

I've started to read it 3 times because I thought it was something I should have read.
Gave up on each occasion as there was no sense in it that I could divine.
I would say life's too short to struggle through that lot.

I had a hard time sticking with `watching` Shogun.
