I think you'll like Crichton Capney-I was entranced by Jurassic Park, much scarier than the film-although like most I did jump when that veloceraptor snapped at the kids legs as they scuttled into the roof.

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell is my current read.

How did you like Bram Stokers writings Capney?

"How did you like Bram Stokers writings Capney?"

I work on the assumption that if I finish a book I have enjoyed the read.
Bram Stokers style is typical of early modern writers with text from Van Helsings journals at times difficult to understand without going back over a few words.
The suspense built towards the end but I was disapointed with the final scene.
I`m sure the movie makers have made a far more suspenseful ending.
    I would rate it 6/10

As a huge Christopher Lee fan I think he was scarier than the Stoker book aswell.

First movie Dracula starred Bela Lugosi produced in 1931
The more common Dracula starring Christopher Lee was produced in 1958 directed by Terence Fisher
When the film was originally released in the UK the BBFC gave it an X rating, being cut, while the 2007 uncut re-release was given a 12A Seems what was scarry then is not so these days.

The terminal man has been terminated, not a happy ending.
THE KRAKEN WAKES (aka. Out of the Deeps) by John Wyndham is my next target.

The Kraken Wakes now finished and I would rate this yarn with a 6. The tale drags out over several years with not enough action covering world events during an alien incusion, and for me to much philosophizing about human nature and in depth feelings of the books characters.
I am now well into THE EXORCIST by Peter Blattey
A story I`m sure we are all familiar with. The perfect book for bed time reading...
