14.1 here and out in the garden I have just heard for the first time the 'music of spring' - i.e. the chimes of an icecream van! (O Sole Mio/Just One Cornetto, for the record).

It wasn't only the plants that were lured in to a false sense of security, still in the dog house over using 'oldish' bed sheets to protect the camellia :yikes:
Why of course, 'mam sent the invite by dove this week :phew: I'd personally sneak off and check out the secret gardens instead of the ceremony

12C here today ; already had the disdainful cacophany of the ice-cream van ; mind you , around here some are that dopey the i/cream van comes in the middle of winter !
What's to look forward to next .................Ah yes , the monotonous harmonics of countless lawnmowers and strimmers , plus the death-camp like odours of numerous barbecues , coupled with the shrill disconcerting shrieks of children playing on their 'must-have' trampolines .
There's only one thing I enjoy about summer ......MY PLANTS GROW !!! End of !

Well to me it is radios/loud music in the garden, some people just struggle to survive without it and take it everywhere they go, even when in the garden.

The odd lawn mower doesn't bother me, I can even put up with ice cream vans:biggrin:

Yesterday the frogs were singing on the pond at dawn, to me that is the first sign of spring.
Fish are up near the surface and moving around, just last weekend it had an inch thick layer of ice on the pond.
Things move on fast at this time of the year, but it would be very unusual not to have a few set backs.

i wonder why I love where I live being surrounded by farmland and not able to even see another house far less hear any noise/odours emitting from them...bliss:). That said my smug face wasn't so smug last week being trapped in amongst 5ft snow drifts:rolleyespink:

@silu, you make your own choices.
Given where I live I know which I'd prefer, but I'd not like the snow drifts.
