wasps

Went out for some blackberry picking and saw quite a few wasps. They were such efficient eating machines that it didn't take long for them to finish off a fruit.

The photos are not too good because my hands were a bit sticky from blackberry juice so didn't want to mess about with the camera too much.

 

And mind you don't singe your plums.

You will get hit a couple times most prob so no anaphylactic heroes.
I ply mine with drugs and alcohol.

 

When we were very young, but now we are ten, say maybe six, we had a wall at our little school covered in the things every year. It was a major game to slap as many as you could while running down the path. We found out who fell on the floor dribbling pretty quickly. Makes my school sound pretty barbarous.

 

Up to a couple of weeks ago I'd seen much fewer wasps than usual this year but now our fruit is ripening and falling they've shown up in dozens. I put out a couple of traps on Wednesday baited with honey and apple juice with a pinch of yeast and have already caught dozens in fact I'll have to empty one trap this evening as it's so full of corpses.

 

As soon as I started pressing apples last week the 'missing' wasps turned up within minutes to fight me for the pressed juice.
