    Thats a nice pond kedi.

Woo, go for the small ones, they take longer to establish but in the long run they can be left, once established, much longer.
In a small pond, like I have, "attraction" (which I have) is far too large growing, the miniatures are a much better prospect, although expensive.

Sunshine is a must in my opinion, without it, dont bother.

Hi Pete Are there any other water plants that would suit the shade and add some cover.I wished that I hadn't moved it now But it was In full sun all day and the Blanket weed was Horrendous
I should have left It where it was and put a trellis or something over it never mind i will dig out a new one in a better position. [IMG]

I guess there are others that like the shade Woo, but none match the waterlilly, somehow that is "the" plant for a pond.
In my experience, mostly, flowering plants like sun, lets face it, in a pond they never get overhot or suffer from drought.
Only the leafy things really like the shade. [IMG]

    Thanks Kandy and pete.

Woo, our small red one took quite a while to get going, just as pete says, but they are worth waiting for.

We have one that does very well under the ceder, but I'll have to get back to you with the name.

I'm really relieved about the comments about them taking a while to get going - I thought mine was a goner, it's looking quite sulky but I guess it's just a teenager (in water lily years) and it's to be expected!
