    Don't know, sorry, but when Monty Don did it a few weeks ago he attached a brick to one end of some tights and chucked it - the tights looked odd half-in / half-out, but he then implied (I think??) that it needed a combination of air / water to do its stuff

    Ok , thanks I just bought a couple of those very expensive things at a gardencentre, it didn't say anything about letting it float, it just said chuck it in, which I did.:biggrin:

      Just an update.
      I've never had so much blanket weed in my pond as this year.
      OK maybe it should be floating but I cant find it now its sunk.

      I'm not convinced this stuff actually works though, could it be just a myth, one that makes someone a lot of money.;)
      Maybe the EU are right for once.
      Lets face it nobody can be wrong all the time. Even that lot.:biggrin:
