Yeah, I was a bit curious at the rather wide "margin of error". Been trying to get a bit more detail....suppose it's a general forcast for the whole B Isles but a bit too general to be of much use.

Friday..Widespread ground frost almost anywhere from the coastal regions in the North and central parts in UK.
Saturday..An early ground frost likely in much of Scotland though staying fairly sunny here.

    Let's see then.....

Yeah, I've done that, all I got was a forum about weather. Am I missing something here?

Me I watch the country file weather forecast on a Sunday - 5 days and if I want a little more mid week say go to the BBC website and check out the weather maps and 5 day forecast there for my area.

Gotten used to watching where the weather is coming from and the amount of cloud at this time of year - and it works for me.

Know what you mean Fran, local knowledge works wonders.
My favourite during the winter is "When there's snow over Stow,it's time to go". Believe me,we don't take that statement lightly around here!

One of the nice things about living here is we don't get extreme usually - although living on a steep never gritted hill does make snow a problem. That said I recall two years ago a snowfall that caused nearby flat Milton Keynes to turn into chaos. One of those weird combinations when weather fronts meet. Snow was forecast and the the roads were gritted, but it then rained and washed all that work away, it then froze, and the snow fell heavily on top of ice to about a foot.

City workers including me left early and compacted the problem and still it snowed. I have never experienced the like - Took me two hours to get near my village 6 miles away, and as that is on high ground ended up abandonning my car in a pub car park and walking the last mile - fortunately I had my wellies in the boot. Two days later it was all gone

I feel sorry for the kids. I've not had the chance yet to build igloos or snowholes with my son (age 9). The best we've managed is pitifully short snowmen that last about 24 hours.
Eeee by eck when I was a girl (in the 70's - I'm not that old!!) we had snow to our armpits (and over) and it lasted weeks (or so it seemed)
    :D
Roll on March and skiing in Andorra!!

I'm quite paranoid about snow - I all but hibernate when so much as one flake falls! I have been known to call in sick with pretend illnesses or accidents rather than venture out! Well I do live out in the country and my road is uphill and cambered and a nightmare to negotiate when snow covered. Now I spend hours out with a bucket and shovel gritting the road so I can get out. The neighbours think I'm being so public spirited!! (Not!)

I know exactly what you mean michaelmas daisy - snow is great, when you don't have to leave home and can enjoy it without wheelspin and the other lunatics on the roads.
