Weedkiller: for and against

    As for vinca removal, I know it's a pain but I've always found pulling it up when you see it works. It sometimes snaps and leave growing tips but you can dig these out and it will eventually go. It's far easier than bindweed.

      I couldn't garden 2 acres here without glyphosate. I use it to keep the edges relatively clean and to push back the bindweed, couch grass and horsetail fern that tries to invade from neighbouring fields. Spot-weeding or pot-weeding bindweed and the odd bit of couch grass in borders. Some years use it just once on the gravel drive, before the annoying annual weeds have a chance to set seed. Don't use it on the veg plot, though.

        I don't use any unless it's a last resort

        I know lots of people that have problems using weed killer only because they don't use it as it should be used and at the wrong time of year and wrong growth stage but if weed killers are used proberly then it should be too much of a problem

            @infradig Thank you for that article link, possibly answers a question I had which was given the known parsimonious of farmers and that glyphosate is supposed to be bound to the soil particles how come so much ended up in rivers.
