How did I know that someone would ask that :D
It's Pennisetum Glaucum, Purple Majesty, ornamental millet. Just got that off the label "in case". Now you know as much as I do. Handsome beast, though, isn't it. I gather that there is a blue variety as well, but I got that snippet off a French person, so it might not be totally reliable. Remember Trafalgar. :D

    Nik,

lovely pictures, you should start up a 'new topic' to showcase your garden, it will most probably get more views then ;) .

I love your garden Nik - I noticed you have some of your plants in containers. Do you bring them indoors or cover up the half hardy plants during the winter months?
Webmaster: It's a really good idea for members to showcase their gardens. A picture speaks a thousand words............

I must confess that the artistic and creative bits of the garden are all down to "er indoors". I just hew the wood, pour the concrete, fit outside taps, and paint the trellis, when ordered. The exception being the Lemons and the Strelitzias, which fall under my wing.
If it is in a container, it comes in for the winter. If not, it gets fleeced during very cold spells.
This exotic bit of the garden was inspired completely by seeing others, so we have to hand on the message. Thats my excuse, so there! :D

Lovely - especially on a day like today, with a bitter north easterly and cloud.

I took more pictures of snowdrops on Sunday. They were in a local churchyard and looked so lovely I had to capture their beauty.
Also my second amaryllis which has just bloomed to greet the snow we're having here in Suffolk. It's a bit late for its name "Christmas White"
