Agree, Starmer and especially that Lammy bloke have some serious back peddling to do. Let the boot licking begin.
I've just been reading that Harris failed to pick up a larger percentage of the votes than Biden anywhere in the USA. That surely must be a first. I can't say I'm surprised by the outcome as she seemed pretty useless and anonymous as the VP, so why would anybody want to vote for her?
For Xmas I have got my daughter an iPad, my son an iPhone and my Mrs an iIron. The iIron intergrate's with other networks, to do iCook, iWash and iClean.
@KT53 said I can't say I'm surprised by the outcome as she seemed pretty useless and anonymous as the VP, so why would anybody want to vote for her? Maybe here are a few reasons why people voted for her… Today is a day of despair for America. We are plunged into an anticipatory grief | Moira Donegan
They seriously went wrong trying to prop Biden up in the earlier stages and left it too late to pick a new candidate, I think Biden lost them the election due to his stubbornness to stand down.
What amazed me was, once Trump got in in 2016, why did the Democrats not spend the next couple of yrs finding a candidate who was young, charismatic, articulate, etc? Biden was a pretty desperate choice, showing they have no idea how to pick someone with wide appeal. He won by a whisker, aided by the pandemic preventing him having to tour and sell himself. Once Biden was in, they should immediately have started bigging up a successor for this election, knowing he couldn't run again at his age. Selfish vested interests got in the way, just as they did when Hilary Clinton ran.
Some fair points in that article, but it also misses the point. Harris didn't win because Democrats are enslaved to money (and its power) in just the same way Republicans are. Harris didn't win because the Democrats have failed to make life better for ordinary people over the last 4 yrs. Harris didn't win because the far left liberal elite are authoritarian and overbearing, telling people what they are allowed to think, cancelling those they disapprove of, etc. If the Democrats want to know why Donald is in power, it is because they offered nothing better. And while Robert Kennedy in a position of medical authority may seem alarming, so was Anthony Fauci frankly. Of course, there is a middle road ... and most people would vote for it given the chance. It's just that option is not on the ballot paper.
I've always said Trump is a product of the system, people are fed up with living standards not rising anymore, its pretty much the same over here. Trump gives people some hope that things will improve for them on a personal basis. Who gives a sh** if the country is doing well if you personally dont feel any benefit.
Doesn't every politician up for election attempt to offer hope of a better life to their constituents? Some are quite genuine in their beliefs that they could make a difference - others just know which button to press to obtain what THEY want rather than worrying about what is needed to improve life generally.
The genuine ones never rise to the surface, its only the career ones that reach the top. They might all try to give us hope in order to get our vote but if you have done the job for X amount of years and nothing has improved for you personally why not try someone else, its how the system works, offer more of the same old stuff and you are looking for a hiding. Trump obviously appeals to the masses, you cant deny that, being voted in for a second time kind of proves people felt better off with Trump. Obviously that doesn't allow for the fact that most peoples memories, regarding politics, are pretty short.
Having listened to numerous interviews and "vox pox" since the start of the election campaign . Overall I think the American people have the president they deserve. I feel sorry for the American environment and the rest of the world.
I think the American people deserve better than "Rule by Big Money" politics, just as they deserve better than "Rule by Big Pharma" healthcare and "Rule by Big Food" nutrition. They deserve tax payer dollars spent on education, etc, not on enriching the super rich and weaponising the world. But there we are. It ain't gonna change any time soon.
American here. I am top of the world thrilled that Trump won. 75% of the nation wanted change. And knew Biden/Harris did a horrible job. we were recently up in Canada and Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward island, noticed the lack of news stations on the TV. Have always thought folks outside of USA get less of our news, frankly we hardly get yours. And the general Media twists things . later
