Had a wander round last night and found that the Dahlia imperialis and a Salvia have managed to escape the slugs during the recent drier weather. Checked on a Viburnum bodnantense "Dawn" that was leafing up nicely a few weeks ago and confirmed that it was now a dead leafless shrub; so that's on the cut down and possibly remove stump list. Question is do I replace nearby with another or something different. It has flowered reliably for the past 20+ years.

Such a beautiful shrub, I would replace. I lost a Corylopsis this Spring, probably due to the really hot, dry summer 2 years ago, I am already missing it.

I finally managed to get to a local GC on their wrinklies day. Bought some grit and slug pellets as part of my daughter's birthday present. Also bought in some petunias, half from the reduced corner, found some Cocktail Crush tomato plants for her and myself, I ran out of seed and some Enorma runner bean plants. Plus a couple of cucumber plants for myself. Slugs munched my seed sown ones. Later in the day I took delivery of the remaining mini hostas I ordered for my daughters birthday present. They arrived in pristine condition and all have flower buds forming which I think I may have the pleasure of enjoying as I am holding them until my daughter comes home from her holiday in 3 weeks time.
Normally I never buy annual flower plants but I have some empty pots so thought I would bring some colour into the garden, hopefully. I am now waiting for the stormy weather to abate so I can plant them out.

Hello folks, I posted an urgent query (with a photo) regarding possible potato blight on the Edible Gardening, Potato thread last night but now can't find it and can't seem to get this thread up on my mobile phone so I can repost it on this one in the hope somebody might be able to help.
Not sure why some threads appear to be temporarily mislaid!

@lizzie27 - when you post on a thread you haven't marked as a watched one, it [your post and the thread] don't show when you refresh the page. If you press recent posts, you'll see what you've posted yourself.

Here's the thread. I think @Busy-Lizzie has responded

Thanks @fairygirl, I keep trying to mark my most read threads as watched ones but can't seem to find any instructions on how to do it! Any help much appreciated.

@lizzie27, I have the same problem! Not potatoes at the moment, but where to find threads.

If you’ve posted on a thread and want to check up on it quickly, click on your name at the top of the page and then Your Content. I find this easier to keep a track on things I’m interested in @lizzie27 and @Busy-Lizzie.

Rain this afternoon so I've been in the GH potting on some lobelia I've been potting on for weeks, they'd probably be ready to plant out if I pulled my finger out . Yesterday I emptied yet more pots for summer displays , I haven't potted any summer pots up yet but I am not to bothered its been cold at night I am sure the plants don't mind being tucked up inside the GH. Had a few plants delivered yesterday couple of deschampsia Gold tau to replace some pennisetum fairy tails which I did and planted the Pennisetum on the garage site , I got a rheum aswell for the bog garden but it isn't ready yet.

With the sun out yesterday morning I did my usual round with my cup of coffee, watered the seedlings and pots, planted out the beetroot and decided to sow a few more into modules along with some coriander that the slugs decided I didn’t need.

This morning I went out again, only to find I’d left my seed box out and every packet was soaked through by the evening and overnight rain. I suspect that those in little foil packets might be alright but all the others will be ruined. :gaah:

As my daughter would say @latimer -'you plum'....:heehee:

I know the feeling. I don't think I've ever left seed packets out, but I'm always worried about leaving the camera or similar out overnight. My younger daughter always says 'why don't you take the phone outside with you - that's why it's called a mobile', but I know that's what would happen.

The ones in the foil will certainly be ok. Maybe you'll just have to sow all the others and see what happens.

@fairygirl my kids would probably say the same but would be thinking far far worse things to call me :mute:

I’ve left the packets in the shed for now, will go through this evening and see how many million plants I need to grow

Yes - that's the polite term she would use for me!

                        Several million possibly :heehee:
