I removed the fading flower stems off a Euphorbia, reducing the plant to about a third of its size, but it will recover. I trimmed two Griselinias that were getting out of shape, moved some perennials around to fill some gaps, deadheaded some small Nepetas and cut both lawns. I also gave the tree fern a shower with the hose and soaked the trunk which seemed to have a beneficial effect with the fronds now reaching upwards for more!

Potted up some plug plants that arrived today. Watered everything in the greenhouse and in pots/trays outside.

Spent the afternoon in the garden. I'm still finding surprises. Today I noticed an unidentified (for me) spread of smallish white flowers showing. We have beans going across the garden part way, supported by several solid wooden posts.
From the right, the first had Clematis Montana, the second had(has) a white rose, and the third now has what my identification App tells me is pink jasmine (see the thread showing close-up photos), but I'll repeat below.
        Screenshot_20240619-173743.png

I'm not convinced, but have no idea of my own
Bindweed, ivy and Japanese anemones are an issue here, but we'll try to keep on top of them. Self seeded tutsan are in several places, and I do need to cut down a couple of conifers.
Does anyone know whether these can be made into bee hotels - or something else usable?
        Thank you for any ideas.

I did some work at the fence yesterday, and now just need to get some more mix for doing some concrete along the base, which will then become a concrete gravel board holding the raised bed on the inside of the fence. The ground level is higher on the inside anyway, so that will make it more secure - especially if the planks degrade further!
The annoying thing is - it doesn't look as if I've done anything there at all...
The beds will need refilled, and replanted in some cases, but that's fine as I have plenty of home made compost which will be ideal, and the compost bins need a bit of turning etc anyway.
Other than that, a bit of painting finished, bird feeders filled again, and a couple of plants potted on. Front garden hedge needs trimmed, but it's doing well - new, and all grown from cuttings.

Had a very unhappy evergreen fern. Obviously June is not an ideal time to move one and I was dreading the task as I expected it to be quite tricky to get out intact. However ... it came out easily and is now recovering in a pot. Phew! :)

So far I've repotted a hellebore and evicted/killed loads of yellow leopard slugs I found curled up in the bottom of empty pots - ugh, I do find them revolting.
It's turned a bit hot to do much now, we have a south facing garden without much shade.

Potted-on my ‘emergency’ tomatoes (they were so slow I thought they’d never do, but they’ve come on nicely this week so giving them a go).

More Phormium trimming (dodging the bees as they are lapping-up the nectar from the flower spikes).

                Some pruning and bindweed removal.

Two loads of washing (that counts right?)

Certainly ... if you did it in a big metal tub outside and then squeezed it through a hand-cranked mangle, before hanging it on a washing line!

Weeded the blueberry pots and put some compost on top. Did a lot of watering.

Washed the GH glass. As it is a lean-to it is difficult to reach the top of the roof outside. So I sellotaped a spare broom handle onto another soft broom making a very long handled broom. This was really good for giving the roof a good scrubbing. I had to put lots of malt vinegar and washing up liquid in the water as we have very limey water.

Started with the roof, then outside verticals, then inside.

There were quite a few cobwebs, very fine ones, which make a noise when removing them, but no signs of spiders. In a few days these webs will be back.

The GH now looks so much better.

However 2 of those springy things came loose on the roof so hubby will have to get on a chair and reach out the roof vent to put them back. That will please him - haven't told him yet.

I'm like that with everything these days @Perki !
A list helps - that's if you can remember what to write down on it....:heehee:
I got my concrete gravel board thingy done, so that's most of that area sorted. It all seems fine too - just had a quick look. Hopefully get some of the compost put in to one area, and the main area will need the raised bed sorted as I'm making that higher to match the bit next to it. Got all the bits and pieces of that fence repainted, as it was ideal weather for it.
Today, I'll hopefully get the rest of the Eleagnus pruned back, and disposed of when the 'cooncil bin' is emptied this morning. I have a storage box to bring round from the front of the house, which will be used for some stuff from the shed, as that needs replacing, and I'd like to make a start on sorting all of that.
I may even do some actual gardening....

We arrived at OH's south Norfolk cottage on Wednesday so we spent a lot of the day yesterday gardening as we are off to West Yorkshire today then a few days in the Lake District.

OH mowed and I dead headed, cut back and tied up plants in the garden. The garden bin is full. I can hear the men emptying it now.

Dug up some of the Japanese anemones, because they were preventing anyone from walking down the garden path.
Okay, so I know they'll come back, but the job's done for now.
Then I looked up as I put tools away, and realised that some of our roses were out. I'm over 6ft tall, and I couldn't even reach them.

And yes, the sky really was that colour yesterday.

Planting some recently purchased shrubs and perennials, doing associated weeding and clearing up. Planting a mahonia I found a lily bulb under the grass I was digging; problem is I've never planted a lily in that spot.
