Quick qu - does anyone grow Salvia Fairy Queen? If so, does it get chomped by slugs and snails? (In my experience, some salvias do, some don't, and it's very hard to tell in advance which might be super delicious.)

@lizzie 27 amazing we finished harvesting blackcurrants and gooseberries some weeks ago but then they were the worst harvest we have had in years.
So today we tackled some of the NATIONAL COLLECTION of bindweed in 2 of the borders. It is going mad this year.
Then calmed down and picked a lovely collection of sweet peas for indoors. Fabulous scents.
After pause café we then sowed yet again some pea and dwarf french bean seeds.
Harvested our first crop of broad beans.

How many do they need?

They may get more than they bargained for if the Great British public rally to the call.

Been out to try and mow the lawn. I now wish I hadn't tried!!
But I did enjoy listening to the blackbird chicks in the hedge, every time one of the parents arrived with food.:)

Putting my marks here to find it again. I will let you know the name and show a picture of one salvia that I bought in Spring which grows marvellous.

Sorry, the only Salvia I grow is the shrubby Cerro Potosi one, tough as all boots in my garden.

As an aside, can anybody suggest anything at all that will grow in a corner between two walls and under a palm tree in sandy, acidic soil, mostly shade all day, some sun late afternoon - I'm stumped!! I've just planted a fuchsia for my DIL but in those conditions unless she remembers to water it every day, I don't think it will last very long.

Here it is. I had to remove slugs from plants but this had much less than others: Salvia April Nights

Thank you, @simone_in_wiltshire. :blue thumb: I may give it a try, although goodness knows I have more plants than I can care for currently, so why I'm considering extras, I don't know.

Does anyone else suffer from excruciating indecision when it comes to where to plant things waiting for homes? :dunno: I drive myself nuts with pondering. Whole seasons go by and I'm still in thinking mode re some.

You and me both @ViewAhead
I can't resist taking cuttings or dividing plants, and then I have endless small pots of 'stuff' andnowhere for them to go.
I've grown a new hedge from lonicera cuttings, but I still have loads of them, and not all the same type, so they'll have to be slotted in among the rest of the hedge or something. I've got one with a hanging basket placed over it, and I'm trimming it as a topiary type ball. No idea if it'll work, but it's a type that spreads, rather than being more upright so it should be quite good for that.

Taking a break from the garden today though. I've hacked those bees off so much recently, and they were seriously annoyed with me yesterday when I was doing a little more concrete, so I'm off out for the day to a hill - for a rest....:heehee:

Sorry, but you are both mistaken I share the National Collection of Bindweeds with my neighbour.
If you would like more I can easily send you rooted pieces for free.
