That must be very hard work :dbgrtmb:

I can’t sieve my clay soil. All I get is spaghetti soil.

It keeps me entertained. :) If I want to plant something out, I set aside a whole day. The morning for excavating, etc; the afternoon for lying on the sofa resting my complaining back.

Gosh, that looks lovely, @Snorky85. :dbgrtmb: So to get my Geranium Kashmir flowering, all I need to do is move house!

I sometimes sieve soil too - usually if I've run out of compost and I want something suitable for potting on, seed sowing etc. It can be quite relaxing on a nice day to just sit and do a bucketful with a couple of sievings. If there's any large stones, I just hand pick them out, and then I do a few handfuls at a time to get a decent end result. If there's any of my golden gravel in the mix, I get that out and put it back on the ground, where it's come from.
I won't be doing much outside today as it's to be a bit dampish. I need a break from it anyway. I'll collect the next lot of shed timber, sand/gravel etc, and get it under cover. I spent a lot of yesterday sorting out the inside of the shed, while it was dry and I could put stuff outside, and then started the rebuilding of the inside of the back of it. Demolished a dodgy shelf unit that had been in there, as I have another, better one that can replace it - daughter's old bookcase. Used the sides of the old one for the back of the shed, and some of the shelves will be useful for the floor
Very nice plant @Snorky85 . Your greenhouse looks very smart too. I'm sure you'll get good use of that

This is what I cut back yesterday. You may just be able to see why I called it Fido :heehee:

I was able to cut it right back but couldn't possibly dig it out so I have someone working on it now.

I love a good bonfire. I have one in the making, just waiting for the right weather conditions and dampness before putting a match to it. Last time I had a really big fire I nearly set the rest of the garden alight, needed to hose the ground surrounding it to stop it creeping. It would have been embarrassing to have my son in law firefighter need to come and sort me out. (Really Mother! What have you done now! We cannot leave you for 5 mins!)

I spent a couple of hours diving into my compost heap, filling 6 large pots to pot on some tomato plants and a couple of cucumber plants. Cut a massive slug in half I found in the greenhouse, no wonder my squash and courgette plants were totally eaten.
I was horrified to see my newly planted runner beans have also been almost decimated by slugs despite putting down plenty of slug pellets. I put more pellets down but it is raining this morning, I am afraid to go and see if I have any bean plants left.
A second Queen of the Night flower bud has appeared, I will have to make the effort to sit with it when it is ready to open. I hope it will be worth the effort.

I'm glad to see you have left some little bits of lonicera growing, @shiney. That makes it a judicious prune rather than an outright murder, in my book! :dbgrtmb:

I always hose down the ground and the trees near the bonfire as the fire gets very hot. I also hose them down during he fire.

We're keeping the two smaller clumps on the left hand side. :blue thumb:

He has been working hard at it for the last four hours :phew: and is now on to digging over the ground and then composting.

Been cutting the greener parts of my recently removed conifer, to try and make ericaceous compost - in a couple of old compost sacks. Tedious, but I'm slowly clearing the site.

My council garden waste bin is full, and I've another week to go before they empty it. We have an old metal dustbin left behind by the previous owner of this place, which she used to burn things in. We might do the same with some of the dead wood.

Wife has suggested leaving some logs in a box outside the house, and see if anyone might like them for their log pile.
But who's going to saw them into decent lengths first?!!

It took five hours of hard work to dig and chop out the stumps/roots and add compost :hate-shocked:
