I'd finished planting all my bulbs, and then yesterday I cleared the bit of hedge brought down by Storm Darragh. Looking at the cleared patch today, I thought it could do with some bulbs ...
So I went down to B&Q, having bought some at 50% off last week. They are 75% off now.
I have 138 more bulbs to put in now.

The weather was quite clement this morning so I planted more primroses in the Community Orchard.
Back home, I cleared the leaves under the magnolia so that the small squills and snowdrops can grow better. They are already showing through.
Then I cut down the two Geranium Rozannes and swept up more leaves - do hope that's the last lot.

I finished weeding and mulching the donkey paddock fence border then I hoed about a third of the veg garden and covered it with weed suppressant fabric. The bits where the potatoes, lettuces, peas, beans and onions were. Will need to do the tomato, courgette, cucumbers and peppers area. The rest is the raspberry double row and the purple sprouting broccoli so I won't cover that.

@lizzie27 we collect our different apples and most of them keep for many months. We usually find that they keep until March/April. We sort them out every 2 weeks and the ones that aren't keeping are collected and put out in the orchard for the birds.

I planted 2 lonicera nitida baggesen's gold before work this morning. It was a nice way to start a potentially stressful day.

Not exactly in the garden, but the Onion seeds are in the heated propagator, back to Mammoth Reds again for next year.

I just had a quick half an hour pottering before lunch today. Secured the new red birdbox with wire attached to a fence slot - just to ensure the wind doesn't blow it off the ledge. Tied in some loose strands of a severely pruned Trachelospermum on the trellis nearby and then plonked a small pot of violas into a small bright yellow tin bucket I found on the verge during our morning's walk. Presume it must have been blown there. Looks very cheerful from our kitchen window.

Managed to get out and prune the apple trees yesterday. Also removed the leaves from the hellebores, which are starting to flower.

Noticed daffodils starting to poke through aswell

@Jess91 why do you remove the leaves from the hellebores?

I remove mine as they get old and tired, but also they develop a fungal black spot.
Also some people remove them so the flowers present better. A new flush of foliage soon follows the flowers.
Do not remove the leaves from the Corsican Hellebore (Helleborus argutifolia) as the flowers come on the end of the leaf shoots and not on separate stalks. Some other hellebores also do this. Remove the old leaves when new leaves appear at the end of flowering.

Me too. They get old and tatty and the new growth coming through flattens them to the ground anyway. With them removed, it shows off the flowers better and makes way for the next lot of leaves

@On the Levels , as NigelJ and Loofah have said, they get tatty in winter and can get fungal disease.

Also you can see the flowers better if you remove them. Does the plant no harm at all

Wednesday, I jetwashed the patio and paths. Not exactly gardening but it needed doing. Yesterday was last volunteer day for the season. The College was like a ghost town with no students, but at least we can get on without interruption. More Acer pruning, nearly all done now. I need to get to the plots to check on the stored spuds, to see if there enough for Christmas. Not optimistic .
