May have jumped the gun a bit but took the old flowers off my mophead hydrangeas and cut back the hardy fuchsias before the rain started this afternoon.....forecast is for more mild weather so I'm keeping my fingers crossed the weathermen are right! Think I'll wait a bit longer to chop the penstemons.....

Made two small bottomless troughs from left over wood, just got to give them a couple of coats of Cuprinol Ducksback before lining the sides with plastic and placing them on weed suppressant membrane to keep the root cutter bugs out rather than the weeds. Hopefully these two troughs will be home to several varieties of peppers I'm growing from seeds.

Just one more trough to make, this time to house 2 or three begonias. It'll be strategically placed to stop 'my best friend with four big paws' from cutting off a corner and walking over tender plants growing in the central flower bed.

Attached a few piccies of the current garden and it’s state. It’s come a long way from the overgrown forest that it was but still LOADS to do.

been rooting through seeds this morning and picking some to get sowing. I need to mix up top top soil and some compost to make a mix for some seedlings-so will try get that done today.

Hi Snorky. Quite different from your previous garden ... so you moved? Didn't your Mum live in Lincolnshire?

Very nice. I like your path at the side of the lawn.

Very wet again so have been sowing more seeds. OH is fed up with every windowsill being full and the bay window in the ling room having Cannas and Abutilons filling it.

Absolutely chucking it down intermittently here, we went garden centre browsing....came home with a phenogeno rose Ruby Mella, and a cut-price hellebore Sugar Plum. Gorgeous!

All my windowsills are full too @Punkdoc !

Bit of a busy day in the garden today. Cut the grass for the first time this year on a high cut, then dressed the lawn with a good dressing of FBB.

A couple of days ago I ordered 10 New Millennium trailing fuchsias and 6 cascading Fireball begonia plugins, both came this morning and were promptly set and planted on. These are mainly for hanging baskets.

Planted giant sunflower, borage, and cornflower seedlings that have been growing under polythene. The borage was planted next to the strawberry bed in the hope they'll encourage pollinators to visit the strawberry plants.

All day we've been threatened with a downpour, glad it kept away till I'd finished, and pleased that the rain washed in the FBB.

If I can believe what the Met Office is saying, there may be a few hours of early sun first thing in the morning, it would be great if I can get round all the beds for a spring tidy up, all in one huge attack.

Damp rather than wet so been out weeding this morning, but plenty wet enough underfoot for tromping on the soil.
Greeting old friends coming back to life after winter.
Moved the prunings from the Phyllostachys nigra out of the way.
This afternoon in the greenhouse as the rain returns, got bulbs to pot and insectiverous plants to tidy up.
