Oh, and I may or may not have ordered some Surfinia, trailing geraniums, geranium 'summer twist', some osteospermum and three hydrangeas.

Dry for most of the day so weeding and then more weeding and a small bit of pruning.
I did see a Peacock butterfly on a dandelion and also what appeared to be a "daddy longlegs".
Also caught and executed the snail that had been raiding the tomato plants.

@Fat Controller I think you have got a bumper crop of plants there. I have to admit a weakness for hydrangeas and I bought several last year. They are all starting to show signs of growth now. I just LOVE this time of year. I bought a Sambucus nigra last year and the first feathery deep purple (great name for a group that!) leaves are unfurling now.

I made the decision, having had a year off and a couple of pretty rotten years before that, that if we were going to do the garden this year we were really going to DO the garden... it will likely kill me in the process, but hey-ho.

I’ve been on border control again this afternoon, snipping the leaves and flowers off more Spanish bluebells :th scifD36:. There’s now just a small area left where I’m going to allow them to flower and will then swoop in again with some snips to prevent them seeding. Now I can enjoy the bulbs that I like, not intruders!

Oh, I am very positive - it is always good getting compost under the fingernails and pottering in the greenhouse with the radio on.

i have been attempting control of that thug (along with the other thug in my garden- the dreaded crocosmia) for years and they both come back fourfold every year! :paladin: Grrrrr!

That is interesting - I have some crocosmia next to the cherry laurel and it has never really gotten going - I think the cherry laurel is sucking everything out of the ground as it has became quite large.

I know the bluebells will come back @Ladybird4, but may be not with the same freeloader attitude :)! I did manage to eradicate the Crocosmia a couple of years ago though :yay:.
