Dug over another piece of the veg plot and then dug out the trench for the runner beans at the opposite end, dug some parsnips and removed the giant beetroot and then weeding.

Well... I think it is safe to say that things have escalated a bit.

Started off by fitting the gate to the little veggie 'pound' and then adjusted some of the fence purely because the planks were so catywumpus it was annoying me. Then we decided to use some rope to tie in the errant branches of the evergreens that have been peeing me off for years. No way, not happening, no matter how hard we tried - the branches were too heavy and too low, so I decided to lop them off:

I am now needing convincing that I shouldn't be arranging a skip, and lopping the entire things to the ground. Answers on a postcard (or a post here)

Finally, I stuck up a couple of bird feeders - attached them to some left over fence post bits, so that makes them a bit higher, a bit more sturdy and a bit less likely to rot in the ground and snap off.

Lose the conifers @Fat Controller Horrid dark green lumps that rob light and air from a garden - unless you have acres like the Blooms at Bressingham gardens and can grow interesting varieties with colour and form.

Sowed peas and cosmos, ran out of windowsill space. Then cajoled the other half to help me clear out and clean the shed we've pretended didn't exist since we moved in.
We displaced several generations of spiders from their ancestral home, and discovered dry rot in one wall, but it's still fantastic to finally have that big tick off the to-do list.

It's a strange spring, we are moving out so I haven't sown a single seed (apart from Giant Thorny Bamboo and Passiflora but they don't count  )

No Toms, no Chillies, no Cosmos. :yikes:

Anyways, the swamp behind the house is finally supporting human weight so got cut. Cleared out stuff, raking and filling the bin with winter debris that my late Grandmother sternly advised to be left, to protect the roots and offer hideouts for animals. I follow her advise to the delight of weeds and slugs.

But now the paths are visible and borders have some shape.

Planted a Poundland Rose from a container into the back border to fill the gap where Dahlias or Cosmos would usually go. It's a rather pretentious Rose with flowers like those pictured in Poundland Rose boxes  and I prefer a bit more natural look. Hopefully the next inhabitant in the house likes it.

Continued to clear out the garage and found approximately 79 pairs of secateurs.

Spent two hours on the bench in the afternoon sun, reading a book and watching the birds :)

During the winter i buy potted chives to use for the salads, i keep them afterwards and I've planted them in 2 containers on the patio.

Might be worth hiring a chipper @Fat Controller , if you are able to cut them down yourself.

You could then rot down the chippings and use them as paths or mulches.

I reckon I could get them down myself, it would be dealing with the remains that would be the problem really. Not sure I'd get a chipper into my back garden (access is narrow and height restricted) - I could burn the waste, but that would make me as popular as fart in a lift with the neighbours and it would take days too.

As you know, I have hated these things since I moved in here and they were a lot smaller back then.

That is a lot of chives. I have one Garlic Chive pot I've had for years, mostly used on potatoes.

Well if you get a skip it will be surprising how much stuff is there, and equally its surprising how much room it takes up, but once chipped its not a big amount.

I could chip some of it, but it appears that the chippers only take up to 3" - not a busting lot more than my own shredder takes from memory, although I'd imagine the chipper would be much faster.

3 ins doesn't sound much, slightly more than my one but probably faster as you say.
I just think that would fill a skip pretty fast in its usual state.

Some chipper this one is, no conifers.

And that looks very similar to the one I was looking at. A 7 yard skip would fill up for sure, but then that is the whole idea really.... fill it up and get shot of it. I could cut it into lesser chunks I suppose.
