I weeded the Jewel bed today, it was a bit of a mess as I last attended to it last year. The garden is still like a bog but the Jewel bed is against a wall so a bit better drained and I can weed half of it standing up which is better for my bad back.

Good afternoon all. Well apart from getting drenched this morning I had a good time at the nursery with my friend She bought lots of plants to help fill her garden after it had been totalled by the builders whilst having a gigantic extension built. They had to rent a flat for a year whilst this work was being carried out.
My purchases seemed paltry by comparison and despite my alpine list I only got three. A white thrift, a white and a purple pulsatilla. I couldn't believe my luck but managed to get two clemmies I was after Clematis Mayleen and Clematis Venosa Violaceae. My final purchase was two Gardeners Delight tomato plants.

@Busy-Lizzie, I remember you sorting that jewel garden out some time back and hasn't it come along well? It looks beautiful.

Not being well enough to do any gardening which stops us getting on with veg planting. However we walked around the garden and orchard this afternoon after the rain stopped to look at the fruit trees.
Plums, gages, cherries, peaches, pears, apples and quinces all in flower now. Just hope that April doesn't give us a frost and stop the fruits developing.

@On the Levels, I was sorry to hear you are not so well. Fingers crossed things improve soon to a point where you might be able to get on with some veggie planting. I'll bet your 'orchard' is looking very pretty just now.

Just ordered some rustic steel path edging to replace the rotten sleeper, so I need to dig out and level the new pathway

Well, planning ahead, I think I know what I'll be doing in the garden in 2025,
                      planting rice...

@Ladybird4 Thank you. The orchard is looking good with so much blossom. Really do not need the high winds as the blossom becomes like confetti. Then the PIGEONS! Why do they come and take the flowers when there are other flowering trees in the fields behind?

Ordered some Pulmonaria 'Silver Bouquet' plants from Proctors nursery near Leek (Staffordshire) and decided to ride my motorbike the 2hr round trip to pick them up. Some lovely scenic 'biker' roads on the route there.
