Quite a bit of standing and looking and pondering today. Yesterday sarted sunny and dry and then it p'd down all afternoon and most of the evening and night so everything is sopping again.

Today was bright sun at 7am then really dark until just now but it's a brief period of sun and blue bits till the clouds come over again. I had hoped to get some weeding done and maybe plant a couple of mahonia shrubs in a bed where not much else is happy but even that bed is sodden.

That leaves me checking on the seedlings and having to do stuff indoors. Again.

Indoor jobs here as well. Might be planting some annual seeds. It’s not too late is it?

@NigelJ I'm going to be sowing some ipomoea myself this year. I would have done it Sunday but I forgot they're supposed to be soaked for 24-48 hours first.

Don't know that I'm going to be getting anything done today as I'm still waiting on a call from the vet but I've noticed this morning that the limonium have germinated despite only being sown on Sunday! I haven't done anything special with them, they're just in a modular tray with a lid, on a north facing window sill. I'm not complaining, I may need more than I was anticipating.

I don't think I've ever met a limonium @Februarysgirl but it would be great for several places in my garden. Thanks.

Potted on some overwintered chilli's from last year and was happy to see one flowering already. This year's chilli's are still only a few inches high so it'll be a while yet before they get going.

@Obelix-Vendée It's a new one on me as well. I found it whilst searching a seed catalogue.

I haven't done this and I generally get reasonable germination, might try next year if I remember.

                  Well. Silly me.

I chose a bright blue spell with taht big yellow thing showing its face to go down and give the chooks their daily sweetcorn and prick out my squashes and the heavy grey stuff stormed back over in a squall which was not going to be of short duration so I got soaked coming back.

On the positive side, more brassicas have popped as well as ivory eschollzia and the hens were so spooked by the downpour that they came in the polytunnel to shelter. This batch of rescue hens - all white with large, floppy red comb - is a lot less friendly and nosey than the brown ones we had before and usally keep clear except when we take food. Good eggs tho so fine by me and they seem happy and healthy.

Been in the GH this afternoon potting on some tomatoes and cucumbers , sowed a few extra seeds while I were in there .

Its a wet windy miserable day garden can't take anymore water feel like I should invest into some flippers or I'll be growing webbed feet at this rate :hate-shocked:

I'm thinking of a pair of waders in my size @Perki . I bought OH a pair years ago for when he had to wade in and clean the pond but am beginning to feel the need for a pair of my own just to get down the garden.

First dry day in ages! Sunny but a freezing wind however I wrapped up in my boiler suit and cleared a patch of mourning widow iris which never flower followed by an hour of weeding. Really enjoyed it!

Only had time to pop in and out to the greenhouse a couple of times. Managed to sow a few herbs, dumped out a couple of cardoon plants and potted in a couple of things.
Also fitted a thumb stud to my pocket knife and ordered a bit of general purpose soluble fertiliser for boosting plants in pots

Sowed Ipomeoa Chocolate and Ammi Visnaga Green Mist this evening and surprisingly, some of the ipomoea seeds had germinated whilst soaking. Not sure how that'll work out but keeping my fingers crossed for a good result. It'll really throw my plans out if I can't get at least two plants!

For those of you who hate binning surplus plants, could you either pot them up or put them in a bucket outside, with or without a price and an honesty box?
People love free plants or a good bargain. Don't we? ;)
