Not too late to sow seed at all. I've hardly sown any yet apart from the sweet peas and some basil and toms. More s. peas will be sown soon too.
I've never soaked Ipomoea or the aforementioned s. peas. Never had a problem with germination of either.
Indoor jobs later - I have another obelisk to put together for the climbers going in pots. The language may be choice if the first one was anything to go by!

I agree. I usually take them with me to work and there’s always someone wanting them. It’s harder to post larger plants, but I don’t mind posting rooted cuttings or small divisions…

If I get a chance I'll dig out the patio furniture and see what state it's in. Weather looks ok tomorrow evening so might give the chiminea a fire up

Nobody round here gardens like we do @Mrs. B. so I take mine to share with a couple of gardening fans at patchwork or I swap or donate with pals in the gardening club. i always sow a few more seeds than I need so I can "evangelise" about hings like PSB and cavolo nero and interesting tomatoes and I've even converted some to Lemon Drop chillies.

@fairygirl I've never grown ipomeoa before so just went along with the back of the packet. I soaked sweet peas last year when I grew them for the first time, didn't bother this year.

@pitter-patter I take my surplus to work as well. Don't think I've got a lot for anyone this year at the moment as some things that should have, didn't make it through winter.

It’s been too wet to do anything here for a couple of days but it looks like a dry day on the way tomorrow. Lots of leaf litter and twigs to clear due to the recent winds, mainly from neighbouring gardens, so I’ll be using the lawn mower as a hoover:).

I’m craving a warm and dry day to do stuff. I’ll do some more seeds this weekend, but (as I’ve just described on the tomato thread) I’ve had to put a tray of veg seeds in the airing cupboard this year as it’s just not warm enough in the house yet. I can’t justify the central heating for seeds and the airing cupboard has worked before. The trick is to allow germination and once you see green, then bring them to a south windowsill.

The only thing is @AuntyRach, they don't have airing cupboards in Belgium or in France...........

No heating in our annex so I've had heat mats and other gardening goodies for assorted Mothers' Day ( 3 for me now cos I'm British, Possum is British and Belgian and we live in France).

First job was to bury a body. The smelly mouse was buried behind the trellis that's supporting a Jasmin, I doubt I'll be weeding behind there, I'd hate to dig the mouse up, I've put several small stones on top the body. I've a sump (old mop bucket) that catches the run off from the wormery, it was time to tip the liquid away, when so when I tipped the contents out; there was the mouse. Wondering if he was trying to get to the worms? I don't feed the worms anything other than kitchen peelings, nothing made of grains, meat, dairy, or fats.

The task reminded me to spend an hour or so tidying up the wormery. I was trying to hold off that job until seedlings have been established, then I'll use the castings as a top dressing, especially on the tomato bed.

Planted Foxglove, Canterbury Bells Mixed, Carnation Double Stripe, Crespedia Globosa Drumstick seedlings, they were spotted in drifts around the garden. Potted up trailing lobelia in trays in anticipation of eventually being planted in hanging baskets. Sunflower Teddy Bear (dwarf) seedlings were planted in their pot. Watered the areas in the raised beds where seeds have been sown, it's surprising how dry the soil was - pleased to see evidence of carrots germinating.

Garden still looks a tip, resigned myself to being an epic messy worker.

Emptied one of the dalek compost bins and put it in containers ready for the tomato plants at the end of next month.

That’s a job on my list too @Logan - empty one composter to use for veg, and start again. My second bin should be ‘cooked’ later in the year (mine takes ages as they need hand-mixing every now and then, which I often forget to do, plus they are in quite a shady area.

A dry day today, as forecast, meant I could mow both lawns to collect grass and the leaves and litter lying on it after the recent high winds. I also planted 3 Geums and 3 Nepetas with fancy names, Lady Stratheden and Cat’s Pajamas (correct spelling!). I also removed three Carex Red Roosters that were looking shabby, loosing their red highlights over winter. I had other plans but guess what, the rain returned at 4.00pm:thud:. A bog garden is becoming a distinct possibility:rolleyespink:.
